We May Never Get A Bioshock Vita Game

Ken Levine reveals that we may never get an original Bioshock Vita game after all.

During Sony's E3 press conference back in 2011 Ken Levine, creator of the Bioshock series, announced that a Bioshock game was being developed for the PlayStation Vita. He later clarified the game wouldn't be a port of any of the released Bioshock games, [http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/06/08/e3-2011-bioshock-for-vita-is-an-all-new-game] "It's its own thing being built from the ground up."

Flash forward to the present and we now know that such a game for the Vita isn't actually in development yet, it was ultimately just Levine being optimistic of the possibilities. However, he took to Twitter to divulge that his optimism is waning.

He went on to explain to his followers that the game would likely be in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics in a pre-fall Rapture. Because, as he states himself, "I'm a turn based whore." Here's to 2K and Sony getting their act together, but given how convoluted legal matters can be, Levine may never get his wish.

Forget that. Where's my PSP Resident Evil game?

I'm still waiting, Capcom...
I was looking for one recently and I was very surprised to find out that they haven't made an RE game for the PSP. You could play the PS1 games on it though.

Oh no. We may never get a BioShock game that requires us to buy an additional $200 device just to play it. Allow me to play the world's saddest song on the world's tiniest violin.

This article could be titled "We May Never Get A Vita Game" and still be true and cover the same content.

When I thought of it being turn-based, my mind drifted to essentially an X-COM mod. That could work, plus Plasmids could add a neat layer to the dynamics. I could also see Big Daddies as a wildcard character who come in and are REALLY hard to beat, but the rewards for beating them are huge.

Also, if you're going to make what amounts to a strategy RPG, ya might as put it on the 3DS. I have no clue why so many Western publishers and devs refuse to make stuff for portables. It makes perfect business sense to diversify; they're not as expensive or lavish as these big AAA titles, but the size of their audience as well as their lower costs for development means there's less risk with them. Furthermore, if the 3DS library is any indication, one need not sacrifice depth just because it's a handheld. Stuff like Bravely Default, Rune Factory, SMT IV, Etrian Odyssey, Fire Emblem etc have proven that. All you really sacrifice is spectacle which is pretty negligible to the overall experience. Oh well, looks like I'm gonna have to keep waiting for Western companies to get over their handheld cooties.
