Whatever, just wash your hands.
What web browsers do all of you use? I tend to mainly use chrome with a side of Firefox for certain content but I'm thinking about moving from chrome to brave.

I'm using Chrome. Although recently a change happened when browsing twitter which annoys me to no end(which has not happened in Internet Explorer so I know it's on Chrome's end) so I am considering switching.

Mainly Pale Moon, and occasionally TOR, with Brave as a backup.

*EDIT* I forgot that I was thinking seriously about exchanging Brave for Dissenter as a backup.

Firefox. It's almost never let me down, and has a lot of helpful free Addons.

Chrome's not a bad secondary option, though, and it's my backup browser.

On computer about 94:5:1 Firefox:Chrome:Edge/IE. (If including mobiles, more like 80:19:1.

I generally use Firefox, I use Chrome for some streaming as it seems to work better and it's the Android default, and I have to use MS products for a couple of work intranet things.

Waterfox ever since Firefox changed how addons worked and broke Classic Theme Restorer.

Depends on what you look for in a browser.
If you're not about privacy (Pale Moon, Brave, Tor, Dissenter, etc) or into making a statement of some kind, political or otherwise (Ecosia, etc). Then it's mostly about a Look or fashion/design (Waterfox, etc).

Otherwise you use the currently mainstream one (Chrome or Firefox).

You can get away from Google or trackers if you want to..

But isn't that all a rumor? Like we say 'off grid' with VPNs, but those all sell to governments. Like what was it, Snap chat promised in the T&C that they for realizes didn't store and sell your information online, until...well...yeah.
Like who here actually thinks VPNs or privacy based internet services are on the up and up? Like that they don't just straight up sell to the US government, like every other site does.

I fully admit I'm paranoid, but that doesn't mean the governments of the world haven't been finding backdoors to basically everything. Why would they not, and honestly I'd think less of them if they did not.
It goes back to my take on Olympians. Everyone else is on drugs, you'd be stupid not to.

Firefox, love the add-ons. I got pretty used of the new look rather fast and I was one of those people that kept using add-ons to keep Firefox looking a certain way. Firefox on Android is also great (better than anything I've tried and I've tried most). Everything sucks on iOS though because of stupid Apple restrictions.

The tech giants are so much worse and have the resources and foundation in place that no government can touch.

Snapchat is snapchat, and not applicable in this situation. It's a sort of social media platform and not a VPN. Nor a browser.
Social Media are not usually known for their adherence to privacy..
You should expect leaks and hacks. Use a different password on each site, always.
Have several emails and handles/names for different purposes (gaming/entertainment, politics/ideology, work/family), etc.

VPN's are companies, and each one different than the other. Driven by different motivations, be it ideology or profit, etc.
Some are more trustworthy than others. Open-source ones are those you could get the quickest overview over, since non-partisan programmers can review their code for vulnerabilities. Or if you know one doing it mostly for an ideological purpose and you trust them, despite not being open-source.

Anyway, you don't have to use a VPN, unless you are geo-restricted, or for some other reason.
A good privacy-concerned browser, set up with the right addons could actually be better and let you avoid the pitfalls while still blending in with the background. Encrypted traffic does tend to stand out, even if they can't tell what's being encrypted.

If a government really wants to spy on you personally, there isn't much you can do unless you are literally a security expert and have built things to be as difficult as possible to get into and even then they might find a way. Really though taking precautions such as a vpn or more secure browser or tracking blockers just makes it much harder for casual data collection, which pretty much every company tries to do. So why make it easier for them to create a data profile for you?
