Thanks for all the kind words, folks! Here's another for people who said they wanted to see more, just wanted to get this done in time for the GoW III release.
I absolutely love this series and I really can't wait for you to really get cooking with this. I love most how you've managed to make these characters yours too. You've captured them perfectly in this strange mundanity.

Man, yours is freaking awesome.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks! Here's another for people who said they wanted to see more, just wanted to get this done in time for the GoW III release.

I don't think I'll ever understand how MGDMT didn't win this competition. Not to slight "Out of Tens" or anything, but Manly Guys is just so well done.

I guess I'll post a link to mine as well. Feedback is always appreciated if anyone has something to offer.

I heartily agree with this statement. It's so outrageously over the top and fun, it breaths MANLINESS and excretes awesome.

I can't wait till you get a website or something I can bookmark so I have a place I can check regularly for new comics. That, or a surprise announcement that The Escapist has decided to hire you so it can use your comic as well.

Congrats to the winner and honorable mentions (especially manly guys, that was my favorite entry).

Mandatory Shamelessness:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/webcomic/view?id=74443&ix=16

I didn't expect to win since my comic has next to NOTHING to do with video games (besides the "guys playing video games on a couch" ending for the lolz). It was just an idea I've had in my head for a while and I wasn't about to think up a NEW idea for a video game esq. comic... That could tarnish my artistic integrity... or something. In all seriousness though I heard about the contest 4 days before the deadline and had to work 2 of those days sooooo yea went with the comic I already had in mind...

It's a Zombie comic but it's got a unique twist and goofy tone( I've noticed most Zombie material is serious or the humor sarcastic at best, never really that straight cartoony/comical feel). I'll probably make more if anyone is interested in following it as I have lots of ideas where this is going. Any feedback/criticism is appreciated.

With all the chat of folks wanting to continue comics I thought I might lend some advice:

For those of you looking to start your site up go google ComicCMS and Free Flash-XML Image Rotator. You can see them both working on http://www.eyeshock.com where I posted Anubis and Paz. (The template has a long way to go. It's functional. Don't judge me. I only started today. ><)

ComicCMS is so easy I want to have sex with it and the XML is really easy to update after you play with it. The image rotation is right there on my homepage...rotating...and you can click on one of the comics to see ComicCMS. They're both free and open source. I haven't found any bugs or red flags as of yet.

Anyway, just some helpful hints for those of you who really should get a site going (I'm looking at you Coelasquid!).

hmm too bad MGDMT didn't win :(. it was by far the strongest entry :D..

Congratulations to the winner!

I didn't win but I made it to the Honorable Mentions, which is way more than I expected! Even though I can't believe I actually managed to get there when there were stuff like Manly Guys, Difficulity Up, and The Last Shot.

If people like it I may make it a weekly thing either over at my website or some other place that offers hosting.
lol your comic is funny xP. especially the last page strip :D/though the art leaves a lot to be desired/. love to see it continued. Second only to MGDMT :D

Speaking of MGDMT, I thought that that was pretty good, and I would definitely read more if he were to continue it.

Anyways, I would also like some comments and thoughts on my comic: "The Clan", I plan on continuing it only if people really like it. Here's the link:

Thank you. I am indeed planing to continue the series. And yes, the art is not the best. I was not 100% happy with the results. I really wanted to spend more time on the colour and shadings/light effects and add more details. Hopefully I will improve as I go along with it and don't have to draw four pages in a 5 days deadline. :)

Wow, it's pretty insane how much we all agree that MGDMT should have won. Reading it actually makes me sweat awesome from my awesome glands and cause my balls to swell up with super-testosterone.

Which is a really surprising result, given the nerdy material. Also terrifying. I think I need medical attention.

Right, before my skins transforms into sheet metal, I'm going to brazenly plug my comic: [link]http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/webcomic/view?id=74335&ix=15[/link]

also my webcomic site: [link]http://www.dirtpony.com[/link]

Please Coelasquid, find a good, broad space on the internet to put your Manly Guys in.

Oh man, you have no idea how how happy I am to see somebody who isn't me draw Volt. And Even better that his face looks a little like the Jason Statham caricature in Crank 2. Now you've opened the gates for me to freely imagine some sort of Six-and-a-half foot Jason Statham-Billy Idol science!baby, and that's the best thing that's happened to me all day (granted I woke up an hour ago).

Kratos' face is top notch as well, he looks like he's trying to keep a top on the BOUNDLESS RAGE that's built up over the course of sitting patiently in his chair.

Man, watch me get this webcomic running, then I run out of ideas and fall on my face a month later. And all the Escapist judges will laugh in my face because THEY KNEW.

Considering how completely over saturated the game market is with these types of characters, I doubt someone with your mad skills would run out of ideas. All you'd need to do is go back to cover more old school characters until the next big thing hit. If you do get a site up, I'd love to be able to link to it from my main comic site.

Personally, I thought that "Manly Guys doing Manly Things" was funnier than "Out of Tens", but whatever, I'm fine with the winner.

If anyone is interested in continuing their comic I was thinking of building a site where we could host all of them.
I mean if everyone continues theirs elsewhere then we have 350 new web comics launched this week and most will be lost in the hustle.
I already have hosting and a rough design done for the homepage. Then we could do a different design for the individual comics too. Send me a message if your interested I guess.
If you already did put it up on it's own site then let me know and I will link to it.
Would be nice. I for one have decided to continue my comic. What would have been even better would be if the Escapist made it so those who wanted to continue with their comics could have them hosted here on the the Escapist. Sure, it would probably defeat the purpose of this contest, but then they would have one whom they pay for the comic and a few free comics hosted along the way. It's like hirering someone and then get a free cake.
Yeah but I guess with only one comic it will get more traffic and that is pretty important for the winner and escapist. Plus it seems unlikely that anyone would pay attention to the updates of any of them besides the honorable mentions anyways unless they all got their own section of the escapist so people could actually notice the comic.

Good stuff. Mine's up here >> http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/webcomic/view?id=74256&ix=7

I think I'm gonna continue mine, and try less to make it gamer-y... I'm better at just random slice-of-life stuff!
Hope you do, I enjoyed your submission. If you start it anywhere let us know, I'll have to put it on my list of "comics to read"
Lol, I just spent the past 4 hours or so doing some fairly crappy designing and coding, but I've got a site up and running.

Looks good, I'll be keeping an eye on it!

HEY! Coelasquid! WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE!!!? :D

While I think the Man comic should have won the winner is probably more versatile, and was quite funny. And you know what? YAY GAMER GIRLS! They do exist, and not as gamer guy's boyfriends. I will enjoy reading it, yes yes.

Thanks for the Honorable mention!

I'll be posting my comic "Blast Processing: The Man Child I've Become" to the Collective [http://redcity.comicgenesis.com/Collective.html] of my Red City [http://redcity.comicgenesis.com] comic. It isn't there yet, so you can check out my entry here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/webcomic/view?id=74416&ix=14].

For shits and giggles, here is my older gaming comic [http://gnerds.comicgenesis.com].

I'd also like to say that I found the winner a bit underwhelming, but not bad. Safe is the word I'd use. For instance, Manly Men Doing Manly Things is impressive, but the source material is so specific that I would not be terribly confident in its longevity.
