Weird censorship

I think the most confusing movies are the ones where they have selective censorship.
The Matrix Reloaded on TNT has the line (uncensored on TV): I'm so sick and Tired of his bullshit.
However, every other word after is a "shoot!"
There's Something about Mary on FX has the line "Yeah, you shit out a few kids, you'd put on some weight too." but then the mentioning of "What's a' matter? You think your stuff don't stink?"
The Sopranos on A&E also has this issue, they censor most, if not all swear words, but some "Shit" will slip up on the show every now and then.
Doesn't make much sense to me, but I heard a rumor once that with the use of the word "Shit" on tv, it has to be expletive, not saying, "I'm taking a...", otherwise it is okay. I wish the world of American Television worked that way all the time.

OT: I've always thought it was weird how a movie can have all the graphic violence it wants, but if a boob gets shown for a few too many seconds, then that's just wrong and the movie has to be censored before release or it'll get an NC-17.
I've also heard that a penis being erect automatically warrants a bump from R to NC-17. I have absolutely no idea why.

i was really confused when i saw this. also they censor out the word "muhammad" in the episode even though the episode before said it uncensored.
edit: the censor actually makes it funnier in my opinion cause right at the end stan says "yeah" after listening to that.

As for your other point (and kind of playing to mine), it simply highlights the strange relationship America has with violence and sex. It's the complete opposite of Europe's (at least Western Europe) and I've seen this really interestingly typified in the British version of the Bank Job (with Jason Statham). The camera always cuts away from violence, but there can be nudity and sex going on fully on camera. If the movie were American, those things would be reversed. I don't know what caused it, but it's definitely something deep down in our cultural zeitgeist.
That's what I like about Germany, you can curse, offend and show tits on TV all you want from sunrise to sunset and beyond. They're just words, gestures and, in the case of tits, parts of your body.
I'm glad people here seem to understand that these things are no great secret known only to a chosen elite, but that everybody bloody curses and everybody has tits. Well, women, at least.
