Weird Class Builds

As the title (hopefully) suggests, this thread is the place for you to talk about any weird class builds you've made: have you made a shapeshifter in Dragon Age, or maybe a ranged warrior?

I'll start. Recently, I have made a strength-based mage in Dragon Age: Origins, with a specialisation in shapeshifting. It worked fairly well and was fun to play, and now I am going to be making a dexterity-magic mage (Arcane warrior to boost bow damage) with spells choices based around avoiding sheathig my weapon and making up for my lack of 'Melee Archer'.

So now it's your turn, share your weirdest class builds, successes or failures, it doesn't matter.

I once created a crossbowadin, a paladin that used crossbows, in Diablo 2. It was a pretty weak build, but surprisingly fun to play.

An Illusionist in Oblivion.

No direct combat. Not a dagger, sword, mace, ax, staff, or fist in sight.

Played like a dream. A bit of stealth, mind control, and summoning.

No need for any armor, or repair hammers.

Hide in the shadows...cast Frenzy/Control to get them to fight. Summon creatures. Fun times.

Important stats:

Intelligence, Willpower, and Speed. Because you need to run around and dodge when you get caught.

(give INT and WP the +5 during Char Creation, though!)

Major skills (in no particular order):

1: Mysticism (Detect Life, mostly)
2: Illusion (All the mind control, duh.)
3: Restoration (heal your controlled allies, especially the really strong ones. Watch your MP, though. Always have enough to recast the mind control.)
4: Conjuration (Get Summon Dremora Lord at Bruma before you do the Mage's Guild questline!)
5: Sneak (To stay sneaky.)
6: Acrobatics (to jump around more during rare direct combat)
7: Ummm...Whatever the hell you want.

Best part? This build is VERY effective at even high levels, due to the fact that you don't use direct combat, so the scaling of the enemies doesn't matter, because the highest level summon spell creatures are scaled, too!

I had several N/W and E/W builds in GW. The N/W builds are now worthless due to a change that was made in the skill Aura of the Lich. Damn basterd MMs in AB used to abuse Darkbond(edit) and AoTL.

a nigh unkillable soldier class in borderlands with maxed out health, shields and healing as well as a rapid cooldown turret... which shoots missiles. :)

I can't read that post due to unnecessarily heavy use of acronyms.

Every single character I ever make in an RPG.

Expect me to make a mage character.

Then pick up a claymore and plate armour. Staffs and robes are for the veak and ghirly.
Sure, you have a higher chance of failing the spell, but the rare time you fail as a staff/robe mage is the time you die. I like to know that if I cock up, I can still ruin that bastard's day with a large shard of metal though the face.

If I can't be a mage and wield a claymore, expect the game to stay on my shelf and never be played. Yes. I will always ignore class guidelines, and god help you if you stop me. See Titan Quest, Drakensang (though that was more because I found the game wordy and tedious. First play, I didn't even finish character creation before I got bored).

Well I have an F2000 class in MW2. Pretty sure that's weird on it's own.

F2000 Red Dot and Silenced, PP2000 akimbo and FMJ.

Bling Pro,
Lightweight Pro,
Steady Aim Pro.

Unless yous have played the game you would really have no idea what I was talking about anyway acronyms or not. It is not unnecessarily heavy amount. Most people will recognise GW as Guild Wars. AoTL I think is obviously enough Aura of the Lich which I already used. AB is something in Guild Wars which if you haven't played the game will mean nothing to you anyway. I really don't see what is the point of using Alliance Battles. MM is a general type of build which is Minion Master once again if you haven't played it you will have no idea why AoTL and Darkbond made it overpowered as you would have no idea what the skills used to do in conjuction with each other. N=Necromancer W=Warrior E=Elementalist W=Warrior.

It is at least readable now. I've played enough RPG's to at least know what you're on about now.
Some of my mates used to play Guild Wars, and whenever they were talking about it, it was virtually a constant stream of confusing acronyms. Must be a Guild Wars thing.

Well basically everything in Gw has a ancronym for it if it is well used and in the meta of the game. All forms of PvP have acronyms several styles of PvE have acronyms and all popular skills and general build templates have acronyms. some of them even have the same acronyms. So yes it might just be a Guild Wars thing but acronyms in the way I used them are so common it actually requires effort to correct. It is like changing your handwriting and doing a letter a different way

Let me sort that out for you then.

There we go, expanded the acronyms but I'm not sure knowing them will let you know any more than some players used a powerful skill combo and it got nerfed so some of Glademaster's builds were made worthless.

As for my own weird class builds...erm. I pretty much stick to standard builds.. Boring, maybe, but they usually get the job done.

EDIT: I appear to have been ninja'd by a while. Why do I never refresh a tab even though it's been loaded up for a while >.<.

In WoW, a Protection talent built Paladin used to be a legit DPS character in WOTLK circa ToC times. Quite high up there with warlocks and high geared mages.

awesome House avatar...
i had an F2000 class as well.(this was before my disk ignited...) it was about the same as yours but i think i had stopping power Pro on there.

interesting side note: my friends and i have nicknamed thePP2000 "the Death Ray" due to its shape and how nasty it can be if used right.

Diablo 2 had one of my favorite builds; The werebear sorceress.

She turned into a werebear(druid skill) and did melee damage(88k melee damage, which is insane). She would swing so fast that for every 4 swings, the animation played once. I loved the "wow" factor she had. They're a very rare build. She could also do Zeal like a Paladin.

I'm currently building a bow sorceress.

In Oblivion I had a hand to hand character that used enough magic to paralyze people. I'd paralyze them, then repeatedly punch them in the face while they were laying down. Pretty fun build.
