Short and to the point: What was the weirdest thing that you were scared of as a kid?

Mine was "If I'm outside all alone to long, an eagle will come and carry me away from my house".
I have no Idea what made me afraid of this, and how it even popped into my head.

So, what was your weirdest fear as a kid?

The Chimney in our house.

If Santa Clause could get down it... what about a burglar.

(I was in sarf east London though so it was a realistic possibility we'd get burgled)

Mirrors, TVs anything with a reflective surface in my room while I was trying to sleep.

It got to the point where I had to cover over the offending items with a blanket or towel or such.

The only thing I ever had a real fear of at some point as a kid was of dogs. I was afraid of dogs for about three months one summer after being attacked by a dog. It's actually a neat story a hole in a fence big enough for the neighbors dog to only stick it's head through got me over my fear. I suppose the neighbors dog being a big fuzzy ball of white fur was a help as well.

I did have a very temporary worry, but I just slept on my stomach for a couple of weeks and pretty much forgot about it after. after seeing some movie as a kid about suffocating in my sleep.

every time when it was dark outside, I kept seeing the faces of monsters in the trees (my mind was telling me that the leaves are showing their true evil forms), so I was a bit scared of walking near trees at nights...

My only phobia as a kid was heights (and I still have it), but that not weird...
My brother was apparently terrified of those:

He's older than me, though, so I don't know it firsthand.

If I left my door open at night DRACULA HIMSELF would come and get me.

Of course, my Mirror, which I was convinced was actually Optimus Prime, would protect me.

Same here, since I (As a kid) always thought I one time saw one staring at me through my window. Turns out it was my dad, which he told me a year later, but in that year I was scared to death of Bigfoot.

Watching the end credits of a movie by myself. I just got this sunking feeling in my gut and the inexplicable urge to cry when ever I saw the end credits pop up. And it had nothing to do with whether I liked the film or not. I never knew why it happened. And it was was full-blown fear. Of end credits. wtf?

T-Rexes. That's what happens when you watch Jurassic Park when you're 5.

I never even saw a single Bigfoot like entity, it just freaked me the hell out.

Skeletons, I have no idea why but they terrified me when I was younger.
