So I need a new game. However, I am short on cash at the moment so I don't want to get more than one. Can you guys recommend the games that are good at the moment. No shooter games please... not a fan. Also, nothing that was previously released for the PS3 please as chances are I will have played them. Thanks!!! :)

Edit. I already have Arkham Knight, Resident Evil 7 and MKXL so don't include those please. :)

Bloodborne pretty much goes without saying.

Yakuza 0 and Persona 5 are pretty great.

And while not great (yet), but certainly interesting, Nier: Automata. Which has shooting, but not of the first/third-person variety, which I assume you're referring to.

Horizon. Zero. Dawn.

Abzu.

Near a tomato.

Nioh.

Entwined.

Inside.

Umm, I am unsure on how many others are rereleases though.

Does Uncharted 4 count as a shooter?

Well, your primary interaction with enemies is through shooting them in the faces, so...

I'd argue that Horizon does as well, given that your primary weapon is a bow, though it toes the line a bit more finely than Uncharted.

OT: Another mention for Bloodborne. Strictly speaking it has guns, but they're only your primary weapon in very specific gimmick character builds and are otherwise used to parry enemies. I'll also echo Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV, providing you don't hate JRPGs. On a similar note, I'd also recommend Kingdom Hearts, since they've finally combined the entire franchise into releases on a single platform, though admittedly still split into two separate titles.

Until Dawn is a neat new wave adventure game-style survival horror game where your actions throughout the game determine how many of the characters live or die. It's basically a mashup of every '80s horror/slasher film ever, but it works surprisingly well.

Rocket League.
Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae

Onechanbara Z2: Chaos
King of Fighters XIV
Guilty Gear: Xrd

Whoops, forgot this one.

If you like campy horror but with a subtle wink, I'd definitely recommend it. Also, a really fun party game despite being single-player. Not a lot of replay value though, so maybe pick it up cheap if you can.

I'll second(or third) Until Dawn if you're a horror movie fan and it's been $20 and under for a long time now.

Also, second or third Horizon Zero Dawn (only game I've ever got a plat from and it's sooo pretty) and Bloodborne is a great, faster Souls type game.

BUT... I just picked up Tales of Berseria for less than $30 on Amazon. Haven't really dug into it yet, but the Tales games are always solid and reliable JRPGs. It's also a prequel/spin off of Tales of Zesteria if you've played that.
(FF15 played more like Kingdom Hearts, so it didn't really hit the JRPG itch like I know a typical Tales game will)

I know many have rightfully recommended Bloodborne, but see also Dark Souls III if you don't already have it on PC or Xbone - it's pretty solid and can be found for nearly as cheap as Bloodborne.

Persona 5 is probably the best bang for you buck if you want to go full 'new release' price and enjoy JRPGs.

World of Final Fantasy - Final Fantasy meets Pokemon is pretty much the best description for it.
It's fucking adorable, and you create "stacks" of 2 Mirages plus the PCs to fight.

The Last Guardian, The Last Guardian, and The Last Guardian. Yeah, I really like THE LAST GUARDIAN.

Anyways, there's a ton of non-shooters on PS4 as others have mentioned. I haven't played the Gravity Rush series (although I've bought the 1st one) is definitely different, unique, and has yet to be mentioned. Rime just came out and looks really great, although you'd probably want to wait for a sale as you're short on cash and Rime is at the highest price it would ever be at obviously.

Stardew Valley is pretty cheap and so far I'm not shot anything in it.

Gravity Rush is pretty good fun. So is Tearaway: Unfolded.

Odin Sphere: Leiftrasir is a really good side scrolling beat-em-up in RPG clothing and doesn't break your rule about no games on PS3, because it was originally on PS2.

Life is Strange is still great and probably quite cheap by now.

Brothers is a nice, short little indie game.

There is very little shooting in Dying Light, most of it is melee based combat.

^Bloodborne is possibly the tightest, all killer-no filler-esque action/(lite) rpg around these days. It excels at just about everything it does, from gameplay to level design to presentation. It's worth at least a look to see if it's your cup of tea or not.

I haven't played TLG myself, but definitely plan on it. It looks like the natural culmination of Team Ico's previous efforts.

Bloodborne is a faster paced Dark Souls in a Gothic London setting. Last Guardian is a game that was supposed to be released all the way back on the PS3 in 2010. Only to be delayed again, and again before a long period of radio silence. I an not interested in either, but I see the appeal. Plus, LG was from Team Ico. The same developers that did Shadow of the Colossus and ICO; it's a given.

Well there are the people that do the shootings and the guns to do so, but most of what I remember enjoying is the glorious swinging and surprise heimlich maneuvers on enemies. Oh and colourful environments to rub yourself all over lovingly. Any shooting was more brief hindrance, like swatting angry wasps away from a romantic summer picnic.

And that's totally a valid thing to have liked about the game, but the primary gameplay element is still shooting dudes in the face so I don't think it would quite be what OP is looking for. /shrug

The Last Guardian is a Team Ico game, like, well, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. If you've played either of those and enjoyed them, it's quite possible you'll like The Last Guardian as well. It's a very atmospheric action-adventure-puzzle-platformer type game basically built off the back of having a journey with your dogbird buddy, but it has some peculiar Team Ico quirks to work through.

Bloodborne, meanwhile, is From Software's masterpiece. It starts out as a Gothic action-RPG and then about halfway through, changes. The combat is frenetic, the bosses are equal parts awe-inspiring and horrifying, and the visual storytelling and world-building are absolutely top-notch. The weapons are all unique and quite interesting, as well, since the main gimmick is that melee weapons are "trick" weapons which have two different forms you can swap between at will. The only weapons that even have similar movesets are the Saw Cleaver/Saw Spear, and the one-handed form of the Kirkhammer/one-handed Ludwig's Holy Blade. (The Kirkhammer being a sword that you plug into a cinder block to use as a maul, and Ludwig's Holy Blade being a sword that you sheathe to use as a two-handed greatsword.)
