Condemned is one of those games where I can honestly say the graphics did help. If I'd played a Sega Saturn version ten years ago, made exactly the same, but with poor graphics, it would not have been entertaining.
I guess what I'm saying is, better graphics can make lots of games more engrossing and absorbing, and therefore more entertaining than they could have been.
Sure, Crysis was a graphics pusher, but you need one of them now and again to get the ball rolling.
