Hmm, nothing quite like a bit of;

to compliment the weekend drinkies!

Oh, emotions...sweet emotions;

Please would you stay awhile to share my grief
It's such a lovely day to have to always feel this way
And the time... that i will suffer less
Is when... i never have to wake;

Current albums are:

Untitled Unmastered by Kendrick Lamar
Fear of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan

Albums I've lined up:

The Seer by The Swans
The Life of Pablo by you know who
Sound & Colour by Alabama Shakes
Rare Chandeliers by Action Bronson and The Alchemist
Plastic Surgery Disasters + In God We Trust by Dead Kennedys
No Love Deep Web by Death Grips

And loads of other stuff, but the above is what I'll try to get through this month.

UU is pretty good, if very loose and just a compilation of demo tracks. Obviously I love me some Kendrick, as you can see by my profile, but all of his albums take some time to unpack anyway. Currently, really loving Untitled 2 and 8, those are both fantastic, but I think 7 drags on too long in the 3rd part.

Public Enemy is part of my Rap History Lesson; that specific album was recommended by a friend of mine, and so far I love it. The production, in particular the sampling work is absolutely amazing, especially for that day and age. The only problem I have is that the album is so big and so musically loud that it takes time to get through them.

As for Bob Dylan, well, I've never fully gotten into his music. People suggested Highway 61 since it is the first time he went electric, and I'm digging it right now. I use it more as a relaxation album than anything else, but I do find it quite charming. It hasn't converted me into Dylanism, but at the same time, it has kept my attention throughout last week, so who knows where it will go after more listens.

Three main listens at the moment.

The Sickness [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq3QmtV8vT0] by Disturbed, good for unwinding on my walk home from work!

And for general listening, slightly less angry and grotesque;

Adore Life [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkICznLrnew] by Savages - a recent discovery, really good trancy postpunk. Kind of like Stone Roses meets Godspeed You! Black Emperor meets the below.
Royal Blood [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPhx4VgjCtY] by Royal Blood - demonstrating something I've suspected for a while - contrary to what you might expect, there's actually an inverse correlation between the number of people in a band, and how interesting the music is.

I've recently purchased a few EPs as well, so I'll be listening to that in the coming days. Most of it consists of hardcore and punk bands, haven't bought much metal or powerviolence as of late (though I'm sure I will as soon as I get paid).

One LP that I'm particularly happy with is the Repos "live munitions" LP from youth attack records. The album has a steady pace and is an excellent example of a band whose energy and feeling is boldly present both in recorded and performed material.

A lot of my listening right now consists of hardcore due to the fact that I'm in the process of trying to write in this style of music, so I guess I'm trying to give myself an idea as to what's being overdone, what styles and techniques are being borrowed from, and just a general sense of what's going on with it.

With that being said, I kind of wish I were following hip hop a little more closely. The last thing I was really excited for was Earl Sweatshirt's track which dropped back in january, but nothing has piqued my interest hip hop-wise since then.

Thanks to some good ol' karaoke.
I've picked up a good song from Halo 2.

Who knew that growling my voice out would do something good. :p

EDIT: Plus the Undertale soundtrack, plus a few remixes/covers here and there. Nothing too important really.

Well I still haven't stopped listening to David Gilmour's Rattle that Lock album which is damned good, and a video for In Any Tongue came out yesterday and it's damned good, so I'm going to share it, but really the whole album is fantastic, also the videos for Rattle That Lock and The Girl in the Yellow Dress are pretty damned good too.

I've recently got back into Unexpect, having not listened to them for close to a decade. Their last album especially is filling a hole I didn't even realise was there.

They have a fairly esoteric sound. Complex enough to entertain me consistently, darkly surreal lyrics that border on nonsensical, but still manage to hold just enough meaning to get my mind wandering, and a heaviness that's about at the limit for how heavy my tastes go, but manages to stay at least a little tuneful, unlike many of the more extreme metal styles.

It's not music, but I've been listening to the old Escape to the Movies videos while I work.

I've listened to all those videos like 5-8 times over the years, but I don't know if I've ever actually WATCHED a single one.

Right now? I'm watching the ERB videos. They're far too awesome to watch only once.

Lately its mostly Nile, Lawnmower Deth, GZR (Geezer Butler's own band), and Anaal Nathrakh is still on the playlist (which has been for 2 years now, love that band).

OT: My latest jam has been
which I found just the other day.

I've been really into "weird" media lately, things that are just new and unique to me, and I ran across them while I was searching through a Reddit thread. That's their fourth and most recent album which, I'll be honest, is the only one I particularly liked because their older stuff all has an air of "Nintendocore" to it (if you don't know what that is, you're probably better off to be honest). But that album seriously impressed me, like, moreso than anything else I've heard in the past six months or so.

I spent my day listening to some songs off of Imagine Dragons' new album while I ran, namely I'm So Sorry. They really surprised me with this one, wasn't expecting it from ID at all.

Listened to some Clutch following that,

Aaaaand then the Fratellis and a few songs off their newer album. I've a sort of unhealthy obsession with them, I heavily recommend giving them a listen if you haven't heard anything besides Chelsea Dagger.
