Simple really, list em, and mention why you've played them so much. Do they demand all the hours? Did the amount you played each game amount to the level of fun? Did you play any better games less? They can be for any console (retro included)

Mine:

1. Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI (PC)
2. Ridge Racer 3D (3DS)
3. Everybody's Golf (Vita)
4. Dark Souls (360)
5. panzer Dragoon Orta (Classic Xbox)

Well, most of the games I've played in my top 5 are favourites (no 1, 2, 5) but Everybody's Golf is a shockingly addictive game and may become my no1 by the end of the year.

Dark Souls is a game I invested a lot of time in, but was full of frustration, time wasted dying, and with little rewards so remains unfinished and not likely I'll pick up again in the near future.

1) Infamous 2.
2) Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
3) Saint's Row: the Third.
4) Little Big Planet
5) The Elder scrolls 4: Oblivion.

With the exception of LBP, these games are all sandboxes, and I love sandboxes. I love to roam around, collecting collectables, random encounters, ect. And these are the best, in my opinion. For LBP, who doesn't love LBP? Great looking game, more addictive than crack, and the BEST MUSIC IN A GAME EVER.

Sengoku Basara

Borderlands 2 WILL be on this list too since when it releases I'll have played it enough from September to December to make up for the rest of the year.

1. Skyrim (Xbox360): ~100 hours. I didn't buy this until January 2nd so all my playtime in it happened this year. I have 1000/100 achievements and I look forward to seeing the Dawnguard DLC. It did get somewhat tedious and grindy towards the end, and the story wasn't great, but it was enjoyable enough to play. For open world OBsibian/Bethesda games though, I still rate it below Fallout: New Vegas.

2. Mass Effect 3 (Xbox360): 30 hours campaign/~20 hours multiplayer. I've only played the campaign once, and while I enjoyed it and thought the ending was ok, I don't feel the urge to play more until the extended cut is out, and there's some extra camapign DLC. I have played a fair bit of multiplayer though, it's kept be going through something of a new title drought.

3. The Darkness 2 (Xbox360): 25-30 hours. I played this through 3 times and did some achievement hunting to 1000/1000 it. I thought it was genuinely great. I liked the story, the gameplay was excellent, and it was great fun just to stomp through the campaign with a fully levelled up Jackie. I don't follow the comics so I don't know how the story continues, but I really hope there's a Darkness 3.

4. Lollipop Chainsaw (Xbox360): 12 hours so far (currently still playing). This game is great, mindless fun. It's a pure video game experience. The story is actually better than I thought it would be, the humour is good though probably a step down in quality and subtlety from Shadows of the Damned, though I think Akira Yamaoka's music direction is a step up here with Little Jimmy Urine's contribution to the boss battle music being most welcome - speaking of bosses, the first boss (Zed, voice by Little Jimmy Urine) and the second to last boss (Lewis) are tied for the coolest boss battles I've ever seen. It's a short game but I've played it through twice and done some levels multiple times.

5. The Walking Dead Episode 1 (PC): 3 hours. Despite having only spent 3 hours in this game This gets in by default as I've only finished 5 new games this year, not counting iPhone or Humble Bundle games. I finished playthrough 1 in 2 hours, I'm currently halfway through playthrough #2. I think the story is very well done, the gameplay is pretty solid and I am eagerly looking forward to episode 2. I haven't played a Telltale Games title before, but if this is the quality of adventure game they're churning out I may have to reconsider their attempts at Back to the Future and Monkey Island.

I only played DS2 so much because it was so long. It was a pretty boring game.

I guess the stuff I've piled the most amount of time into this year has been older games and most of them on Steam, thanks to university depriving me of my consoles.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Katawa Shoujo
Bastion
Jamestown
Pokemon White Version
