What do games need more of?

Giant Robots that don't take turns fighting. Outside of the JRPG genre I count 2 ZoE titles and the Armored Core series, plus some fringe titles like Chrome Hounds. This truly perplexes me.

Depends really. Gameplay is of course centre stage, however if I could add a little pepper to this bland soup of muscular white males with short brown hair and grizzled voices: more ethnicities, music types, use of gender, cultural references (that are not negative thank you very much CAPCOM) & above all else, storylines that are actually GOOD.

Perhaps a talent-pool of developers, producers, and writers that haven't sold their souls to Ayn Rands version of capitalism?

More Megaman 9-style games, regardless of platform. Is not logical that since a game with poorer graphics is easier to develop levels for, a game on an earlier platform could now be given a far greater number of levels than before? Imagine your favorite first-fourth gen game with three times as much stuff...

Not that it's good to have lots of 'padding' levels that fail to add anything new or interesting. That's what limits a game's length, not coding time- sparing use of whatever ideas the team comes up with.

so many good ideas so far that it would be idiotic of me to attempt quoting.

one that has been over-said to death but is still right:
more colour. yes, i too am tired with everything being different shades of "realism" (grey).

i'd like to see better written stories. i know that's a stupid thing to say, but seriously, i wish games had better scripts, plots and more experimental and imaginative ideas.

most of all i'd like to see more games aimed at intelligent adults. most adult games simply translate as "more blood n guts n swearin n shit".

I want a first-person sandbox MMO with destructible environments!

That may be asking for a little much, but if you remove the MMO it could surely be done, right?
A combination of Mercenaries, World of Warcraft, and Bad Company? I would pay three times retail for this.

Less good/evil where the choice is essentially any one of the terms used by gaming media to describe it. Mother Theresa and baby eating, Orphanage powering and kitten burning.

One good ending, one bad ending, and (maybe) one neutral ending is not the "infinite possibles" games seem to advertise.

Split screen co-op. I'm tired of inviting my non-360-owning buddies over only for our only choices to be Halo 3 or Gears of War.

Tongue-in-cheekness. I love epic, serious games, but when was the last time you played a game with a real sense of humor? Timesplitters is the most recent game I can think of that doesn't take itself seriously.

Something like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter

Only in the KOTOR universe, set in a sandbox enviroment, etc etc.
