Nah, they're more like our assigned targets. See, you score points by attacking the targets, and you get a new badge every time you make local, national, and global headlines. And it gets progressively harder, because at first all you have to do is seek out some copy clerk near your dwellings. But eventually, you will have to go after some big shot reporter who's probably covering the news in a war zone.
Incidentally, the war journalists who are often kidnapped are actually kidnapped by Escapist forumers looking for a new badge. Since they usually get a global head line too, they can get multiple badge at a time.

also could someone please explain what this name thing means "a man so nice they named him twice" i've only seen one person with it and i wana know what it's for exacly.
Jimmy James is his name. (Note: Two names)

No one (besides the mods/staff and possibly the man himself) really know how he got that title.

I would like to assume it was because he was very nice to everyone, so they gave him a custom title.
I kind of thought it was becuase his name is jimmy james (it ryhmes) since if they are giving out titles for doing cool things wouldn't they give a title for people who have the gold stars?

It's our real life occupations.
The escapist just happens to attract a really large amount of people who are paperboys, Beat Writers, Muckrakers and Copy Clerks.

Me and quite a few others all take turns playing the part of Gonzo in the Muppets (which sucks, as I wanted to play one of those old guys that laugh at everything)

Jimmy James was around ages ago, in the glorious days before badges (which I, sadly, was still only lurking around for. I should have joined faster and made the most of it.)

muck raking is a rather horrible job i think
Not necessarily. It's an essential part of investigative journalism, muckrakers usually expose the crap that nobody else is interested in, such as the mistreatment of old people in care homes, or the state of the NHS hospitals.

Sorry, I'm taking investigative journalism this semester and we learned about muckraking a couple of weeks ago. It's meant as a derogatory term but it's also quite important.
D:! i thought it meant raking up mud!
