What do you mean it's corrupt?

I was once in the middle of the water temple in Majora's Mask, and I saved at an owl just outside the temple after I got whatever-powered arrows you find in there. Then, one day one of my brother's friends turn on the game, chooses my file, realizes what he did, than quit, without saving again. For those of you unfamiliar with the LoZ: MM method of saving, I basically lost all progress in that temple, and I still haven't beaten it.

Morrowind. My first play had about 100 hours and the save got corrupt. Because of that I started saving every time in a new slot. I had an ungodly amount of saves (one for each time I saved in a 300+ hour game), and my Xbox (original) hard drive still said 50,000+ blocks available. To which I say sweet baby jesus.

I Felt the same way when someone on WOW reported my character name....... granted i didn't actually lose anything..... but I was quite fond of a warlock named Hitlar

The mods renamed it for me....... Hitlarxyz
I had a guildie once named priestitute. Some killjoy reported him and he had to change his name to Battlepope.

A few years ago I had like 99% on Lego Star Wars, and was about to make the final character purchase, and get 100%, then as I was loading to get the the mission hub, the power cut, and I lost ALL my data. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed.

Can't remember any save games that been corrupted but I make sure to save them every now and them on separate media.

Though It isn't hundreds of hours that I've lost, I'm still pretty sour over my Heavy pwnage that Steam didn't want to save.
18 kills, 21 points and 7 fucking dominations. Steam cloud came a year too late.

That Yu-Gi-Oh card game for the PS1.

Me and a buddy of mine tried loading a save file, it told us we had illegal data. Illegal Data!! What the hell does that mean?!
That really hard one where you can combine cards by pressing up?

Jeeeezos, I couldn't even get passed the pyramids lvl(where you need to beat the elemental pyramids).

Anyways, I lost 150+ hours on FFX :<

"edit"

I found my copy of that game in the original cd container cache thingie.

The game is called Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories, anyone looking for a challenge should try and beat this game.

I just don't take gaming that seriously. If I enjoyed the game enough to care about the save, then the pleasure I got from the game makes the loss meaningless... I can always play it again. If I didn't enjoy it that much, then the loss is irrelevant - because I don't care for the game anyways.

Final Fantasy X is the only one coming to mind right now. Had just beat the terror named Evrae and someone saved over my file. Was NOT happy.

I was playing The Last Remnant with the objective in mind to get the full 1000G on it. I looked up guides and they said "whatever you do, DON'T fight monsters". Now i facepalmed since i assumed like most RPGs you kill lots of stuff to grind up levels, but going up levels actually makes the game harder as they level with you and get stronger and learn new abilities. Little did i know powerlevelling was reserved for a specific part of the game where you got to enemies that gave you lots of attributes when you killed them. As such, i tried to grind on them, but it was too late and my efforts were in vain.

I could not beat The Fallen, and as such, i could not do all the sidequests. This meant having to restart the game from the very beginning, and it's a two disc game.

Back in GTA: San Andreas, I had a save file on the last mission. Now I was a little kid (12 at the time) so I had cheated a little bit to get to where I was at, it was a hard game at times. So like I said, I was on the last level, with 20+ hours on that game. I was low on health and I panicked and used the health/armor cheat. But because I sucked I died anyways.
Loading Game....
The selected game file is corrupted, Please select a new save file or make a new game.
I didn't touch that game for another three years after that.

Tales of Symphonia.
I had spent HOURS getting ready to fight Abysson, and after five attempts I had finally succeeded. As I was saving, well...the power cut out.
Save file goodbye. :(

I play for the enjoyment of playing. Progress is interesting, but not necessary. If I did, however, lose a save finle and wasn't sufficiently fond of the game to be interested in starting afresh, I'd probably just not play it again.

Obviously, I'm a casual gamer; you can tell by the relaxed attitude and lack of rage

i was playing some fallout 3 Mother ship zeta. one of teleporters bugged so I couldn't get out. my best character is now stuck somewhere in the cosmos. He'll never see dogmeat again.
I've been playing Fallout 3 Broken Steel and I'm currently at the end quest of it and Charon will now be on the roof killing and dying and I'll lose all the stuff he has on him that I use for repairs and making money. Damn you Charon! But I sent Dogmeat back because I didn't want him dying.

On Quake War: Enemy Territory, there is an achievement for completely every level of the game on the Strogg and Human teams on every difficulty. I was just about to finish the last level until my Xbox Live connection broke.

Of course, this erased all my progress.

The reason this is a bad thing is because the game on easy difficulty is AGONISINGLY easy. Defending for 15 minutes against bots for every level is tortuous. And I was going to have to do them all again to do the achievement.

So now I never touch the game.

One time all saved data on my PS3 somehow got erased. This was after 5-starring everything in RE4 mercenaries and completing GTA San Andreas, along with everything else I'd been playing when I was in college.
