What do you think the US will look like in 10 years?

A much lower standard of living thats for sure. The gap between rich and poor in america has grown exponentially over 50 years. And with politicians trying to push even more for the rich to have even more tax cuts, and areas are now starting to require citizens to pay taxes for the use of public services. (Such as the fire department, and an ambulance) Really its going to look the same on the outside. But walk the streets in a poor neighborhood and it's going to look worse than it ever did.
That's pretty much basically what I see, only add more protest and riots from the middle and lower class.

Basically the same as it does now. Perhaps the standard of living will go down some, perhaps up some. Probably more developed in terms of land usage (more buildings). Nothing really spectacular will be different in terms of landscape/political climate ect...

That is not to say significant events won't occur. Maybe a a major government official will be assassinated, maybe a bomb will go off and kill thousands of people, maybe the cure for cancer will be developed, and so forth. On a whole though its not going to be some drastically completely alien way of life (wasteland/anarchy/ect).

China will probably be close to matching the US GDP if not surpassing it though, so we won't be the worlds largest economy anymore.

It'll be one of two things.
1. A new vacation home for the Republic of China
2. The Capitol Wasteland Except Everywhere Not Just the Capitol Wasteland.

You know what the US looks like in Fallout? Yeah, nothing like that.

I imagine it will probably look fairly similar. The economy might have gotten a little better or worse and then might be a new war, but I don't think daily life will change significantly in regards to how the country works.

Exactly the same. Some new buildings will be up, but nothing much will change, rather like the last 20-30 years

Robotics is developping really quickly, so im guessing a nuclear wasteland with Metal skeletons with machineguns walking around.

That, or I will have taken over the world!

Dunno your goverment is going to collapse sooner or later, there is no way you can pay back the debt owed to the worlds banks. Unfortunately this is also going to fuck over everyone except china. Bastards. So i see a lot of dilapidated buildings

Yeah I know half of you are joking....but you know that china has no interest in conquering the US. If they did their own economy would collapse. China owns a lot of US debt, but our money is whole worth something as long as the country is sovereign.

If china invaded with military force and succeed (which I would be surprised given how much money the US spends on the military), they would enjoy a few weeks of over lordship until their own econ fell apart and it would result in BOTH countries being destroyed, not to mention the ripple effect the two giants falling would have on smaller countries.

Yeah china is smart enough to know this, which is why it will never, ever happen.

There's only one thing I can think of. Gray goo.

Or straight up cyberpunk.

I don't know which one scares me more.

I'm fairly certain that when the revolution comes, the US will be respectable again.

exactly the same except everything is 5% more grey, and you all drink tea and have socialised healthcare because britain offers you a 'helping hand' then takes you over (yes, we did make it greyer.)
also you write correctly. its socialise not socialize.
either that or nothing changes at all.

Flying cars? *crosses fingers*

No, but seriously, probably much the same as it is now. Ten years isn't really all that long in the whole scheme of things.

Pretty much how it is now, except with jetpacks.

Seriously, get on that future people, I want my goddamn jetpack. It is the year 2011, why do we not already have freakin' JETPACKS!?

Seriously: I reiterate what I said, I can't really see it changing much. Maybe the populace gets a little fatter, maybe we get a cool new building, maybe some stuff gets knocked down.

I predict the country will still be standing though.

I'm going to say divided in half, with the northern half struggling economically and about to annex Canada, and the southern half sending all its jobs to China and wondering why they have 50% unemployment.

depending how the political parties are going to act either:

economically well, non-petrol powered cars (oil is getting expensive) and lots of wind/solar farms along with nuclear power plants

-or-

a HUGE difference between rich people and poor people.

a third option is the same as now except the calendar has 2021 on it. (excluding world changing events like WWIII or a zombie apocalypse)
Realistically, I'm going with the HUGE difference between rich/poor. Oh, if only there was a zombie apocalypse, that I could handle.
