Caddoc: yes so they di..
E'lara: What do you mean the go..
*caddoc shoves E'lara*
Caddoc : Yes they did so where's the lord mayor's daughter?
Captive: She was in one of the first groups send into the deeper dungeons
They say they're sacrificing them to their queen mother(unsure about that last one)
Caddoc : A well thankyou
Captive : You're not gonna escort me back?
E'lara: No ehm dryfed is back round that way
*points behind her*
Captive :what lousy heros

Allright people tell me why you hate this game so much
Fire away

because the more I play the more of a fan I'm becoming

The gameplay is quite original for an adventure rpg

(read: Gears of war(you can play coverbased or completly berserk depending on your style) meets Lord Of The Rings Conquest(the basic atack) meets Dragon age(magic use))

The gameplay like it or not is solid.
The graphics are more than decent.
The dialogue is written well.
The story is a basic RPG/Adventure story with a twist making it that much more interesting (read this is if you actually play the game till say past chapter 1)
There's some puzzles and some fiddling around with your magic.
And the game knows when not to take itself serious.
read : A spirit comming to warn you about never going near the murderous chickens who will chase you till the ends of the earth, that in contrast to your journal where it says shooting chickens might be a fun passtime if your up for that kinda thing

I think game reviewers/critics are getting far too bullshitting about new concepts/NOT TRIPLE A games.
Either something is an A possibly a B
Or it's the bigges pile of shite the world has ever pooped

That's just ridiculous

Anyway fire away I want to hear these issues you guys have.
disclaimer : only if you played till chapter 3 will I take your commentary seriously

Well i liked it alot, tho i played with E'lara the whole game so i was kinda nicely using bow most of the time and that felt bit like fantasy Gears of War (big love GoW!)

I really dunno why such hate towards the game, it may not be the most polished one out there but fun non the less.

Gears of War meets fantasy elements...

... wait a minute, why do I need to hide behind cover when I'm using a sword...? How does that work?

Or do guns exist in it?

I've never played it but I would really need to see it before I can tell how this is supposed to work.
Caddoc has a crosbow E'lara has a standard bow
+ the magic ofc, the thing about this game is that you fight say 5 enemies mimimum at a time neatly divided into melee/ranged units of whom the ranged units take cover themselves

same here, I switched from time to time but I vastly preferred E'lara

I for one just love going into a game trying to claim as many headshots as I can before having to stop again :)

It was fun for a while and I enjoyed renting it for a weekend but I wouldn't buy it. I just found it to be very generic and kinda repetitive. Some of the early city levels were pretty cool but the later forest and underground levels just felt fake; 'okay I've got cover here, here and here, that means the bad guys are coming from there. For my two cents: It wasn't bad, just very average.

Game was a decent enough whack to keep me and my brother interested to see it through to its conclusion but little desire to play it again. The gameplay was solid rather than spectacular, the enviroments were never particularly delightful, and theres not all that much replayability.

Some people don't like it because they disagree, simple as that. I played for an hour then quit out of boredom. Neither the story nor the gameplay held my attention.

Well I never played it but after a 5 minute gameplay video... it ain't looking good.
- gameplay looks Two Worlds level
- the dialogue seems to be very basic
- they do the whole Gears forced color blindness we all love
- and what's with Wally Mc Chest High...

But hey I'm always up for a new adventure in the bargain bin.

It definetly plays better than two worlds

I can know this cause I played two worlds till the end (worst buy ever , 'twas impulsive and we didn't have trade-in stores yet back then)

It's definetly not like two worlds. Though in retrospect , if you ever played lord of the rings conquest, like the beta or something you'd have a better idea of the gameplay :p

The dialogue is like a cross between overlord and fable , it's dark humor but it's quaint so to speak xD and of a higher lvl than in either of those games.

And actually the game is full of colour, allthough admittedly sometimes there is a specific palette over an area.

Wally McChesthigh is there to represent the GoW likey play

I don't hate but I just can't get into it. I watch the trailer and found myself completely lacking in enthusiasm or interest. I thought this was kind of strange because it looks like a game I should have some interest in and I looked it up some more and watch game play videos but nothing really grabbed me...at all. Oddly It stands out in mind because I was just so unenthused about it despite trying to be. I can't explain why.*shrug*

Hunted didn't use any new concepts.... "Dungeon Crawlers" became virtually obsolete pre-2000

Although I agree to you completely, I quite enjoyed the game, and it was foreshadowed on release with Duke Nukem forever taking all the media because of how horribly bad that game was....

Because originality doesn't mean it's good. Actually, quite often, originality sucks donkey's arse. It's actually one of the main reasons people don't generally go out of their way to be original.

Kinda like when picking an exit, you don't try to jump out of your window when you have a perfectly working staircase or an elevator in your building. Yeah, sure, you used the stairs and the elevator a billion times in your life, but for its faults of an unoriginal exit, it still beats falling flat on your face from a third story window.

I thought it was fairly middle of the road and yes I beat it. It wasn't spectacular nor terrible. It did have the same issues that all Unreal Engine 3 games have. Slight texture pop in, lack of jump meant I would get stuck on rocks and such a lot especially when using Caddoc's rush spell where I would get stuck on enemies occasionally. The music was mostly forgettable. The levels were mostly forgettable and once you really get underground, they seemed to drag on forever. Normally this isn't a bad thing because it allows you to enjoy the game more, but within the levels themselves the environments felt very samey. The twist at the end was interesting, though I saw that coming and avoided the "bad" ending.

Now the combat felt pretty good, especially using Elara, but this just couldn't save them game from feeling bland to me. It's never a good thing when you reach what you perceive to be the middle of the game and are thinking "OMG, when does this game end?!". Also, playing single player works but it's bare boned. For example, you can smash "crates" and pickup random weapons, however your AI partner rarely if ever does this and the whole time they complain about not doing any damage. Yeah, no crap... break some "crates" and pick up a blue or a purple. There are always at least two, one for each character. Also, on the whole I didn't like having to always have a partner, but they became useful when you inevitably run out health and they revive you. So it's a lot like RE5 in that respect except with less inventory management.

Now the PC version (not sure about the console version) allowed you to make some campaigns through the use of the gold you find all over the main campaign. I did not test this out so I can't say whether it's good or not. I've seen videos of people using Lucy Lawless's character, I assume it was done in this mode and that's kind of cool.

Over all, not a bad budget title. Get it on a Steam sale if you're really hurting for a dungeon crawler, but your life won't be any lesser for skipping it.

I have bought it on release because I was in the mood for a dungeon crawler, and I wasn't even expecting it to be stellar. Still, I was so dissapointed that I traded it in after a week. The reasons:

1) The Gameplay: It is not solid. No matter if you play melee or ranged, I felt more I fought with the controls than with the enemies. It doen't help that the levels are mostly narrow tubes.

2) The Balancing: Oh that is so off on so many levels. Not only is difficulty wildly alternating between boringly easy and frustratingly difficult, also the level progression of the heroes is bad. Honestly, I need to do a certain arbitrary amount of stuff to be able to carry a second weapon?

3) The Graphics: While I certainly didn't expect it to be a looker, it is dissapointing. you have to constantly run through the sameish brown-black mush, fighting grey black enemies. And the animations and proportions of all characters are bad too.

4) The Characters: While I appreciated the twist of the melee fighter being the "sissy" and the fragile looking elf archer being the "badass", no character came across as likeable.

5) The Story: Not engaging at all, which kind of ties in with point 5.

6) The Localization: I am a german native speaker, but I mostly play games in english, because english voice actors are usually miles ahead of the german ones. And boy, H:DF had bad german voice actors. And to boot, there's no way to change the language in game, and when you start it up with the PS3 set to "english", it defaults to french! So everytime I played it, I had to switch the system language, only to be rewarded with cringeworthy, out of sync voice acting...

But then, the lack of a language selection plagues many games, as does the "default french" with no english options, especially for Bethesda/Zenimax and EA games...
