What film is this?

Evening chaps,

I am trying to remember what a film is called but I can only remember the last scene from it. I saw it along time ago (feels like a life time ago). I am not saying it was good or bad, just want to know what it is.

This man is running towards a door that he is contantly told not to go near, I think he is trying to escape. He finally opens it to find nothing on the other side, it's just a black void. I think the story is based in a comic book city, thus the reason for there being nothinng past the door and it might have looked kinda 80's-ish.

Please help.
