Your post is both concise and awesome. That game was also my intro to "holy crap, the screen can go left, right, up and down." back when I was used to the likes of robotron, joust, and centipede.
I didn't get into gaming right away, so my first console was actually the xbox... unfortunately only a couple of months before the xbox 360 was announced...
Super Mario, Contra and other games on SNES. Then a year or two later (1995) I got my first PC and it was awesome. I still have the first game pack I got, all from 7Team.
Well my first VG was when I was 3 but I got my PS2 in 2000 when I was 4 and played games such as KH, FFX and Dark Cloud...
I was an RPG nut and still am today.
I think I got into gaming at the upturn of PC gaming. Sure, I had the Playstation and the N64, but the computer was where it was at.. Not to mention my family had LAN parties out the ass.
We played Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, Total annihilation, Myst, Oddworld... All kinds of games.. Things were going good.
I started with minesweeper on Windows '95. My parents noticed and made the mistake of getting me a GameBoy Color with a few popular games, the most notable of which was Pokemon Gold, which then proceeded to consume all of my time for the next few months. Soon I had a PS2, and I spent hours playing an old Robot Wars game, SSX Tricky and the crappy PS2 port of Age of Empires 2.
Atari 2600 in the very early 80's before getting a Spectrum and moved up with every next market launch of gaming platforms since then. Think I must have owned nearly every console there was (except Atari Jaguar as i'm not an idiot) going throughout the years.
Been gaming now for about 30 years and still going strong
