RTS although my OCD stops me from being any good at it.
FPS is my main one but that just comes from years of playing everything from UT to Call Of Duty.

WRPG, Competitive MMORPG's, RTS games and Adventure equally.

I used to play FPS games competitively, but they started to suck after CoD:MW.
Tried Battlefield BC2? I'm having loads of fun playing it, even though my mind cannot comprehend why it is not possible to join a game as a group/squad.

OT: Probably FPS. I play a lot of wrpgs and action adventures too.
You can.

Select Play With Friends under the Multiplayer tab -> select Create Squad -> invite your friends -> Choose game mode and map -> start.

Edit: Or for JOINING a friend's squad (I just woke up so I missed that part of your post), Go to the Play With Friends option, highlight your friend's name and press X/A/whateverthepcuses. Or your friend could simply press start, choose squad options and send you an invite. If the team isn't full and they have an open slot, you'll join their squad.

OT: I prefer the FPS genre, though I gladly dabble in other Genre's (I LOVE The Elder Scrolls).

JRPGs some WRPGs and then the odd one of most other genres...I'm not too picky but I hate the un-innovative mainstream crap nowadays (I'm looking at you CoD and Halo!)

I play games with good stories, interesting characters, and/or an intriguing fundamental choice/concept on display.

I give no shit to the little word Gamestop employees attach to the bottom to figure out which aisle it goes into.....

I do like my RTS games, but I also love many FPS's... I can't really put myself into one category.

Well, above all, I'm a cooperative player. If there's a game with a coop mode and reliable teammates available, I'll propably like it.

RTS, about 99% of the time, it's Starcraft 2.
I also play a wee bit Blops on the PS3, but not nearly as much as Starcraft.

Above all genres, it's actually Racing Games
Family fun, competative and easy to play in small doses at a time.

I am mostly the RPG player myself, RPGs and action RPGs are the games genre I love to play, play the most and, from what I think, do the best at.

I've given everything a shake, though if pressed I could just use the cop-out statement "RPG", forcing two people who read the comment to argue the (non-/)specific definition of "RPG".

It really rotates with my mood. Sometimes I want to blast things, sometimes I want to stab them, sometimes I want to just solve puzzles. There are considerations for design as well: sometimes I want to analyze the mechanics and interactions, sometimes I want to look at the techniques used for the art and sound, and sometimes I just really like the continuity and lore of a title/series.

Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrobably action sandbox games (AC2/ACB/Prototype/inFamous along that vein, preferably of the slicing and dicing variety as opposed to the shooting sort).

That and RTS's (though I suck at them all, pretty much, except the Total War series).

Got a few FPS's but not into them in a big way.

Definately RPGs, I play the odd shooter or action game, even the occasional bit of strategy but 90% of my overall gaming time is spent with RPGs. Mainly into Western RPGs and MMO's, only really like Pokemon as far as JRPGs are concerned.

RTS (Starcraft 1 & 2 the CnC series and many others)
FPS (the Battlefield series, CS 1.6 etc I hate the Call of Duty games with a passion though [well expect 1&2])
and RPG (Final Fantasies, the Elder Scrolls games and so on)
