I was driving along one fine clear sunny afternoon, on my way to the lovely county of Cornwall in the United Kingdom. I had just visited Stonehenge on the way through so this was pretty cool and me and my friends were all happy as larry.
I'm following a car on a single laned road at about 60mph. All of a sudden a car travelling in the opposite direction crosses lanes and ploughs straight into the other car! My radio was on full blast but the crash sounded like a bomb had gone off!
I'm only about 20 feet behind the car in front, but fortunately by the time I had braked (which was before they hit) I had stopped without becoming a part of the crash. I'll tell you, it's absolutely horrible when you see something about to happen that you can do nothing to prevent.
Anyway, so after the combined 120mph crash, both cars, who only containing one lady each, were totalled. I used to be in the army so my first aid skills are very good but beyond checking for signs of life and trying to asses the critical condition of each woman, There wasn't much I could do. But the blood and pure mangled-ness of the scene was intense. I immediately called the emergency services and requested air ambulances. They sent two.
Crazy thing was, the car in front of me was a Peugeot 306, exactly the same as mine. And the car travelling the other way was a Renault Clio, exactly the same as my mate in the passsenger seats car... Dum dum dumm!
To my knowledge, both women survived. It is my suspicion that the Clio driver had lost conciousness at the wheel.
So tell me, Escapist's, What horrible horrors have you witnessed? And were you able to help?
