What is to be considered an "unfair" weapon?

I mean really. You hear it all the time, every game there is always a gun that somebody is hating on, because only "teh noobz" be's using that gun. One classic example is the AWP, or for that matter any 1 hit 1 kill rifle. Its part of the game. in fact most games require you to play for a time before you can access these weapons. So why is it that everyone hates on them? Regarding all of that is there truly a "noob weapon" if so what makes it a "noob" weapon. In my humble opinion there should be no arguments over such a retarded thing. So i use a AWP, how does that make me any less skilled? I had to fight for the money to buy the AWP did i not? answering my own question, i believe that there is no such thing as a "nooby" weapon. what do yall think?

Because when it becomes "HAH I SEE U" and one shot drop that requires minimal tactical skill, it kinda diminishes the purpose of playing.

Well, merely a thought, but if you had the necessary skills would it matter? they should not have time to take that shot. though i realize in a multilayer game you can never be aware of everyone does it really matter? The creators of the game obviously put that gun in there for a reason. not just to be ignored. get over it and find a way to get rid of the threat.

no offense to you, merely my opinion.

Grenades can be pretty unfair, when you're gettin' spammed with 12 of them in a space you can't manuever in.

I despise people who complain about me using "noob weapons".
In most cases you have to be very skilled to attain these weapons.
In my opinion there is no such thing as a "noob" weapon... just a bunch of whiny kids who don't know how to die like a man.

There i will have to agree with you. not really the weapons fault i suppose. more or less a massive design problem when you add a grenade. not really a way to effectively stop that.

Agreed. For the most part anyways.

Essentially this, I love TF2 simply because it has no grenades. In CODWaW I always get pinned in a corner with a sticky grenade between me and a door. *Sigh, I hate grenades.

On the topic of Grenades, i don't think we can really blame it on the grenades. From here it switches from problems with the weapons to merely spamming. generally spamming of any sort is pretty bad. no matter what item is being spammed.

There was a steerable fly-by-wire rocket launcher in Perfect Dark that I found to be a BIT unbalanced. What was it, did it re-appear after N64? I stopped caring...

i don't think there are any "unfair" weapons because if there is a weapon than the point is to kill someone or something and "unfair" weapons just make this easier and if you are going to complain about it you should go get yourself a game that doesn't involve killing.

It depends on the situation, really. People complain when a weapon allows players of obviously lower skill (or at least so they think) to defeat them or their tactical advantage. Any weapon that is far better than it has any business being.

I dunno what state the balance changes made to Halo 2 are in now, but do you guys remember back when it first came out the whole game was just a mad dash for the sword and to a lesser extent the shotgun? Because once you had one of those you were basically a god. That kind of thing. It's definitely open to interpretation, and which weapons are "far better than they have any business being" depends on where the metagame currently stands.

Extreme example: Say a certain weapon has a glitch that will immediately kill every player on screen regardless of whether you're aiming, and has unlimited ammo. Is that weapon not a "noob weapon", a weapon even a noob can kill anybody with, regardless of how difficult it is to obtain?

I'm not saying this to prove such-and-such a weapon is nooby, but at the very least you must admit there is the possibility for an arbitrarily nooby weapon to exist.
