In your Skyrim adventures, what hold do you find yourself most often?

My favorite to hang out at is Falkreath. Reminds me of the Great Forest outside of Chorrol in Oblivion but with a more realistic setting which I fell in love with.

I find myself most often in Whiterun, simply because its the center of activity in Skyrim.

My least favorite hold to be at is probably the Pale. Its all just Icebergs and Horkers.

What about you fellow Dovahkiin Escapists?

Favorite would be the north east, forget what it's called, but I like da pretty snow. :3

Least favorite is pretty much the entire western half of the map seeing as how it's utterly infested with Forsworn who evidently have the vampire's sight spell from Oblivion (night vision + detect life) as a permanent passive buff as it is impossible to sneak around them even with 100 sneak skill, a maxed out sneak talent tree, and sneak-buffing equipment.

Ebony Mail ftw.
Instant 100 sneak and being the same color as night helps a lot.

And the Jester's outfit from the Dark Brotherhood which buffs sneak, is black, and even has a built in "quieter footsteps" buff is less sneaky than frickin' platemail? Yeah, that's something I can believe. A warrior in full armor can slip right past the guards while a master assassin in gear designed for sneaking can't. :p

Favourite - The Reach

Love the landscape and Markarth is an amazing city to behold.

Least Favourite - Winterhold

Aside from the college there is nothing really there just loads of snow. Not to mention it can be a pain to get around it.

My favorite is Solitude. I like how it's set in a temperate lake area but to the north is snowy mountains and to the south is swamps. I dislike Dawnstar the most, going there makes me feel cold (even though my character has fur, kahjit ftw) and I dislike the snowstorms. At least Winterhold has a better shop. Just for kicks I'll just list them all in order of how much I like them: Solitude, Falkreath, Riften, Whiterun, Morthal, Markarth, Windhelm, Winterhold, Dawnstar.

It's a tie. There's that completely frozen wasteland towards the north. It feels so lonely up there. It makes me wish they incorporated a hardcore mode that would force the player to take a shelter and build a campfire while there at night. This game would be 10,000,000% better with survival mechanics.

I also like the Western portion of the map. It's a bit tougher to navigate than most areas, but I like that about it. I like the Forsworn too. They're the most interesting "normal" enemy to me (as opposed to...ugh...Draugr and Bandits). And Markarth is wonderfully designed.

Least favorite: Either the northeast or the starting area.

My favourite is Windhelm. It's one of the few glorious places in the game. Once you get on that bridge and see before you the mighty weather-beaten walls of the city, and pass by the great warriors on patrol, you know this is a fine place. Inside, though it is actually very tiny, it at least FEELS big, at least compared to most of the other cities. It also has a very nice, strategic location which helps to make it feel more.. lifelike, or real.

My least favourite hold would be Winterhold. Unless you're a mage (my character wasn't) then there is absolutely nothing of interest there. The "city" was just a glorified village, along with Morthal, Dawnstar and Falkreath. The only places of Winterhold that I actually enjoyed was running along the coast itself, with all the frozen ice and stuff. But you can do that it other places of the game, so really, there is nothing worth noting about the place. Hell, at least Falkreath has a unique environment and Dawnstar feels like a Viking village.

My favourite is Solitude. I love the setting and the architecture. Helps that I'm always an empire loyalist.

Least favourite; Markath. It's nice to look at but...it's hell. Demonic houses, conspiracies, tyranny, giant spiders, corpse eating cults, slavery, all of that stuff in one city. Then there's the surroundings that are basically depressing as hell, and the forsworn, who aren't usually a major problem, but don't usually have any decent loot.

Dishonourable mention goes to winterhold, for having a shop that hardly ever has anything useful or enough damn money. And being in the middle of a frozen wasteland occupied by creatures that are real difficult to handle for anyone below lvl 10. Or mages. Yes, the mages college is in the middle of somewhere really hard to get to alive if you're a mage. Logic.

Favorite?

Whiterun

Sort of has the homey feel to it, plus my characters are all imperial supporters so it always ends in me fighting for my home.

Least Favorite?

Either Dawnstar or that place I can't remember.

Dawnstar is just boring, at least Winterhold has the college.

That other place I can't remember, I just know its in a swamp...and boring.

Favorite is Falkreath. It just seems like a friendly out of the way area.

Leats favorite is the Pale. Just too cold and empty.

are you sure?
My khajitt sneaks circles around the foresworn, its the falmer you find in dwemer ruins that always get me (unless I kill them first).

back on topic I always find myself in Whiterun becuase im familiar with it and know exactly where everything is, but my favourite Hold would have to be Riften, would have to be the best house ive seen there, I also like the layout of the stalls and shop in the centre.

my least favourite would be markarth, looks to brown and lifless to me.

(edit) just realised i had posted towns and not the actual holds themselves, but everything is still true.

You know that's pretty crazy, because no joke: my dark elf never had any trouble at all with the Falmer, they were all just throats waiting to be slit with stealth kills. Their giant cockroaches could sometimes sniff me out, but the Falmer themselves never gave me any trouble, but with the Forsworn I might as well be wearing a giant neon sign saying "This Is An Intruder, Kill It!"
