Now, this subject I'll admit, I can't fully understand it myself. It feels a lot like the love issue human beings have. I have yet to meet anyone who can fully understand it.
But I digress, here's my thoughts:
Now, among prominent philosophers, there's two distinct views on time. One being that time is part of the structure of the universe, a dimension in which events occur in a chain of events. Time travel (which IMO is impossible,) becomes a reality (or possibility) in this view. The other view says that time is not an event nor a thing, and so is not measurable and it can't be traveled. The Greeks believed that the universe has an infinite cycle, with no beginning. But some people, of course believe that the universe is in fact finite, and has a creation date (Big Bang theory I think it was.) So the only thing that is in fact infinite is God, to them.
Now, my thoughts on this is that time and other things are an illusion. This of course would lead into a debate to what exactly is "real." My favorite quote from the Matrix: "What is 'real'? How do you define 'real'? If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain." Lovely film.
Anyway, I can't really explain it in a way that I and others can understand. I guess humanity won't know until our intelligence grows, and we evolve into something else.
Meditate on this, I will.
Sorry, had a few poptarts and I'm currently high. ;D
