Alot of people say this is my favorite game or that but do we ever think why. Do we just play a game and think it's good or do we need to take a second thought. Alot of people just say they like a game but i just wanted to ask what makes a game your favorite? Music combat story writing or any thing why do you like a game?

I label my favourite game as such because it gives me the most enjoyment.

When you go hungry while playing it. When you cancel appointments for it. when your own mother calls, you see it, and press ignore because you're in the zone. When you bought it, you had to choose between that and a new suit for an interview. When you camp out for it. When you lose it for a couple of months, then find it again and get that feeling in your stomach that you get when you see your crush.

That, my friend, is the passion of gaming

Well, I guess if I had to describe why I like my favorite game as much as I do, it would be because it has great music, good gameplay, and, most importantly, offers up endless doses of nostalgia.

Any game I buy that doesn't make me want to commit double homicide usually becomes my favorite (for a while, at least).

EDIT: Any game named Condemned 2.

Any game with epic moments that you didn't expect.

Modern Warfare 2 had very epic moments, but the price goes to Uncharted 2 for basically being an epic moment all the time (plus it's double the playtime compared to MW2)

The fact that it will give me endless hours of fun. I want something creative and addicting. Gears of War 2 is one of my favorite games. I call it this because I've spent many hours online, I beat it twice, and I love the co-op. It's a fun game all around and it just works.

I decide which one is my favorite because of its plot, (how good of a story it is, and makes me want to play it to the end).

Followed by how playable it is, (whether or not its a game filled with QTE's, shoddy view controls etc).

Then how interactive it is, (whether I can pick up this stick and use it as a weapon or if I'm limited to guns only).

Then graphics (which mean nothing to me anyway).

1. Is it Okami?

2. Am I enjoying it more than Okami?

If the answer to at least one of these questions is yes, than I know that I'm playing my favorite game.

Variety. The one word which seals the deal for me, and made my favourite game of all time (Half-life 2) well, my favourite game. One minute you were having a shootout with metro cops in a hectic trainyard, the next you were speeding along the coast in a beat up buggy. Plus it had a likeable cast, it was different from most other games and it had a mixture of both puzzles where you were forced to think, and mindless fun sections where you were just gunning your way through combine.

Any game that doesn't have annoying overused elements such as fetch quests, escort missions, repetitive or grinding tasks, and most importantly, is fun to play and makes me want to come back to play it can instantly become my favorite game. Also if I enjoy playing the game over and over again that's definitely a plus. And don't forget that if a game keeps frustrating you for no reason then it will never become a favorite of mine.

Currently playing Resident Evil 4 over and over...and over again.

Any game that includes a "Skip" function so that I can speed through repetitive things like dialog that has already occured, just in a different language.
