In your opinion what is the best song to listen to while playing games like Gears of War 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Call of Duty WAW, or any other game that you feel needs epic music? (mines Gears of War 2 multiplayer with cryptic wintermoons blood of the dragon playing in the background) EDIT:eek:k i didnt mean any games that need the in game music to set the atmosphere im talking about like when u play multiplayer (sorry for the mix-up)

Well I play none of those games but if I was to listen to music while playing a game it would be the in game music.
Its what its for and the majority of them are quite good.

Whatever I feel like listening to at the time, funnily enough.
Wouldn't listen to music I wouldn't want to listen to.

Absolute silence, except for the game's own music. Even that get's turned off if it's crap.

What's point of carefully managed surround sound if you drown it out with pounding noise, I prefer to have the atmosphere and proper directional hearing. It never gets old shooting someone through a wall because you can hear their footsteps.

Different for each game, Oblivion or Mass Effect, it's often just other OST's from Castlevania or Banjo-Kazooie, but action games like CoD it's right onto Hammerfall or Buckethead.

the game's soundtrack, usually because it has suitable music for the action,
This is pretty much my philosophy, unless I'm playing WoW and not questing in Grizzly Hills or Dragonblight.

I have a special mix of songs made just for gaming, most of it's metal, but I slipped some techno and such in there to liven it up.

I have a customized Winamp playlist of metal/thrash/punk/rock songs I occasionally listen to when playing a game with doesn't have its own soundtrack (or has a crappy one which can be switched off). It includes Metallica, The Sword, The Offspring, Three Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, System of a Down, Avenged Sevenfold, E Nomine, Oomph!, The Exies, Rage Against the Machine, Powerman 5000, Machinae Supremacy, KMFDM, Slayer, Incubus, Muse, Disturbed and others.

If you want a single song, that's easy: 'Ultra' by KMFDM. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCfQrVcQwe8] (Taken here from the soundatrack of Street Fighter II: the Animated Movie).

LIVE TO WIN! TILL YOU DIE! TILL THE BLOOD RUSH IN YOUR EYES!

That pretty much sums it up.

Epic Classical Music of course. What's better than playing CoD while listening to 1812 overture.

I listen to a lot of rock/metal at almost all times, so I'll go with that. I know when I was playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 online I used to listen to a lot of Devildriver. Also used that for Tenchu Z, because I wanted to get shit done and the in-game soundtrack makes you wanna be all sneaky and take forever. Strangely enough, I listen to the in-game soundtrack in Guitar Hero, lol. I listen to music now, while I play because soundtracks just aren't what they used to be. I like listening to Disturbed, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir (for just about any reason really) Slayer, IRON MAIDEN (my old school shit), certain Slipknot songs (the ones where they dont think they can sing) Cannibal Corpse, Black Label Society, Stabbing Westward, certain Breaking Benjamin songs and a whole bunch more, but I'll stop there as I dont think you all want a catalogue of what my iPod looks like...

EDIT: Wait... didn't want to forget Shinedown and Five Finger Death Punch. That will be all. Thank you.

Nowadays, I mostly play very immersive games (read: RPGs), in which case I tend to default to the in-game music FOR GREAT IMMERSION.

However, when I'm playing something less seriously, it's usually Nine Inch Nails (The Fragile!), Muse, Tool, A Perfect Circle... That kinda thing.

Seriously, there are few things as cool as kicking ass to the sounds of We're In This Together Now.
