I can't help but think callng it Lord might work. It sounds like a real name, but would also annoy people

"Pat", "Pat" the dog. Could go with "Stroke" aswell. (Being serious)

Avoid "Sit" and "Come-ere" though.

What is it with people naming animals and children unique names or spellings? It just pisses the kid off and you sound like a tool shouting a unique name at a pet.

It doesn't even matter that much what you call a dog, call it Rover and move on.

Sorry, I am rambling out loud ... so to speak.

*Shrug* Oreo?

Someone probably suggested this already, but I'm not reading through four pages to find that out.

Fenris [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenris] (shut up, I like how it sounds better than "Fenrir"). It works well, since I assume it's a largish dog (but it would be hilarious if a tiny lapdog was named after a giant wolf that bit off a god's hand)
Not to mention it kills Odin during Ragnarok, if she really wants to fuck with people she should name it Jörmungandr.
