Well I am waiting for a few things to install through steam and one of them is Team Fortress 2 which I have been pretty excited to get my hands on for a while. So I was curious as to what exactly I am going to be putting myself through over the next few days while my eyes go bleed and my brains leak out of my ears and nose. Hmm I wonder what runny brains smell like.

First, I suggest joining this little group:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/chat/The-Escapist-Team-Fortress-2-Group-PC?added=1#

There you'll find many people who are willing to describe in detail what to expect.

Granted most are probably asleep right now...

no team deathmatch which is a good thing.

Arena is like Counterstrikes deathmatch style stuff
Payload is get that cart accross the maps
Capture the flag is what it says on the tin
Control point is..... capture that control point by standing on it

Its a damn good game, none of this AMG REALISM crap

tf2 is my favorite game ever, one thing i like so much about it is that people actually use tactics unlike xbox live where its just a bunch of 9 year olds calling you a noob because you killed them. it is a great game

I am pretty excited. It has been one of those titles that I havnt been willing to front the cash for or just havnt had the money to get it but 6 bucks is pretty bloody hard to beat. I am thoroughly excited to play it though.

Edit: My computer decided it knew best when to post. I am glad that it isnt any sort of realism and the game modes seem pretty standard but enjoyable. If I can find a game that gives me the same fun I had in CTF back in the days of the first Halo I am really excited.

Some maps for you to try

Arena - Any of them really
Control Point. Badwater, Freight and Fastlane are good maps
CTF - Doublecross is almost perfect, 2fort is a horrible horrible map
Payload - Most are decent

Also,
King of the Hill-like Capture point, but you have to keep the cp for a certain amout of time to win
And
Payload race(only one)-each side has a payload and has to get to the other's base(this is very hard and INCREDIBLY grueling.

Expect to have a blast. Once you learn the classes and the various maps you'll start to really experience TF2 for all that it is. Just sit back and enjoy it.

What to expect?

Guns, explosions, sandviches, and hats. Such glory!

I would stay away from Arena servers until you get the hang of things though, as sitting around dead waiting for everyone else sucks.

And lastly there is Territorial Control, which has only 1 map, Hydro. Most people don't play it though since it's incredibly rare for a game to actually finish on it.

A large amount of anger until you get the groove of things. When you got that, you'll realize it's the best online FPS you've ever played. Maybe it's because it actually is balanced *glares across the room at MW2 and BC2*.

I've got 1 1/2 minutes left on my TF2 download myself. We shall both be finding out! (Maybe together?)

Haha probably not I got World at War downloading so some friends and I can play some zombie survival. But that little progress bar is finally making some progess and the timer is no longer sticking at 2 hours. So perhaps I may get it sometime tonight still. I have very little hope for sleep..

Yea neither do I but he gifted it and said I could pay him back later. Still got a nice fat 45 minutes on that one.
