And I'd like to recommend Karin.

Karin was the second anime I ever saw, and I liked it, despite it not being my thing.

I had completely forgotten about it, I must say =D

From the list, i can recommend Black Lagoon, Gurren lagann, and Code geass.

If you have not already, I strongly recommend checking out Darker than black. Only the first season though, the second one was meh.

Sorry, was thinking that even if it's something I've seen before, it might be popular for the group to watch.

G gundam and CCS.

Gurren Lagann, FLCL, and Death Note are all great. Out of them all, I think FLCL's the best, but it's definitely not for everyone. If you want something universally enjoyable, Gurren Lagann, Death Note, and Haruhi are where it's at.

Please don't watch School Days. I've had more than a few friends succumb to watching that show, and all of them have despised it. I'm pretty sure the entire point of the show is to make you hate the main character as much as possible.
