Fallout 3's traps. I didn't run into them much, but when I did I'd almost always set them off. Carrying 400 stimpacks around definitely helped though. (come to think of it, maybe it's because I didn't encounter them that often that I'd always set them off...)

And Metro 2033. The trip wires would always get me (yes, so nooby, I know).

But in all seriousness, timed jumping puzzles are thing that I normally hate. It can often be hard to see where your character is going to land, which results in SPLAT! INSTA-DEATH.
That's right. EVERYBODY's gay for Bridget.

I'm amazed that so many of you are crying about the bear traps in RE4, i found that you could knife them if you angled it right.

OT: Claymores and Bouncing Betties in CoD are such a tease, they give you just enough time to say "Oh shi-" then they explode your knees/face.

Oblivion's cave traps. God they were nightmares. I run around and see a rat. With a smirk on my face I play with it a bit, blocking but not attacking; Laughing at it's weakness.
Then a piece of wood flies at me from tripping on a tripwire, I lose 99% of health and the rat attacks me and I die.
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

If I find a trap.. I find it very hard to resist triggering it anyway, just to see it.

Can't think of anything. I'll pay attention to anything once I've encountered a trap once. Sometimes I just don't care though, like the huge explosion thingies in Dragon Age. Stupid floor tiles and my dumb party members walking over them.

The trap in Red Dead Redemption where a lady with a stagecoach ask for help and when you go there 4 bandits give you insta death with revolvers.
Actually, they give you a little time for you to hand over your money before they shoot you. Just go into Dead Eye and plant some headshots, pretty easy.

As soon as I saw this threads title I thought Bridget, glad to see I'm on the same wavelength as you guys.

OT: Mimics obviously, and in any D'n'D esque game where I have failed to level my rogues spot etc skill because I'd rather rank up a more fun and directly useable one, always ends up biting me on the arse.

Generally good at avodiding traps. However "obligatory" traps in games where it is part of a sequence and you basically have to go through it for the story to continue, they get me all the time. Like in Half Life 1 where you get taken down by 2 soldiers.

I used to put the controller down during cutscenes until I played Resident Evil 4, the game was like "FUCK YOU, YOU DON'T GET A BREAK!".

In Super Mario Galaxy 2,
there's this course that you have to roll down in the rock suit.
At the very end I can't ever make that jump.
May not be a trap, but I fell through it a dozen or so times.

Any random stranger in any random game: "Kind sir? Could you please help me with *objective*? I would be ever so grateful."
It is usually a trap. But I can't help the feeling 'What if this person really needs help? Hah, I am just paranoid, this couldn't possib- *dead*'

Also, my minions on Evil Genius always trip my own traps. How many traps? ALL OF THEM.

Shalebridge Cradle.

(I'll give you a minute to stop hyperventilating)

I ALWAYS forget that the Puppets can't be killed by a simple backstab. I ALWAYS walk over them, making them get back up. And I ALWAYS scream.

Claymores.

Camp enabling pieces of shit.
Claymores again.

Oblivion, Fallout, I saw thoes traps from two miles away, but Claymores in MW will get me everytime.

Which is why I use scrambler pro. *Click* HA!
That reminds me a hilarious time that I was watching my cousin play, and he didn't realise that he Scrambler Pro on, and so he heard the click, freaked out for about a second and then was so confused when nothing happened. Oh, and then he got his arse blown up.

People who pick arguments with me by misreading my messages, then think I'm arguing with them when I attempt to clarify where they misunderstood me. It's a trolling so subtle that they themselves are often unaware they're doing it.
So you're saying everyone but you is a troll?
Good example, if slightly too obvious given the context.
Just because my name has numbers in it doesn't mean I'm a troll, I bet you suck at MW2 n00b, why don't you go crawling back to your precious Galo!
The first example was better. This second one is too obviously just making noise for making noise's sake.
It was a realistic rendition for trolling defensive behavior. If you thought before you spoke you would know.
Ah yes, this is a much better example of getting offended over typical failure to read. Add something like, "if you weren't so stupid, you would have known this" adds fuel to keep the flame war going.

Normally, that would totally get me, but given that the thread topic is about the kinds of traps I fall in, I'm on my guard and not so prone to do so.
If there's a better example of getting offended over typical failure to read then why don't you show it to me instead of generalizing. When I talk about something I give examples.
I would, but as you may imagine, it's very tiring to be constantly dragged into arguments that I never intended to happen because people were simply unable or unwilling to understand what I wrote.

For example, if you think I'm discussing anything new that I didn't already say on the very first post I made on this thread, you're mistaken. On the contrary, this little back and forth between you and me has been the unintentional epiphany of what I was saying.

You're trying very hard to start and win an argument with me, but I'm definitely not interested. My simply expressing I'm not interested it seems to you as though I am arguing. So you keep asking me to explain. That is the trap I that gets me every single time. Like/believe it or not, you are trying very hard to troll me here, and that I actually took the time to reply is me falling for it again.

Once, I got so upset over somebody for not getting the message that I started taking on a really negative tone - that was the only time I landed a probation on The Escapist forums. Forever denied the Legendary Poster badge, simply for tirelessly trying to explain to immature little pissants that they have a natural but ridiculous sophomoric tendency to try to win arguments even where there are none.

I got my first warning because a guy didn't want to explain why he thought what he thought, even though the thread name was "Why do you guys hate such and such?" Why...
