i'm really interested to see what you guys where playing way back when, so yeah, post your first experiences down below. Also how, if at all, do you think that affected your gaming preferences today?

My first PC game was either Hexen or Doom, i cant remember which. For console it was Rayman and Worms 'Armageddon'. Pretty much says it all, i like platformers and shooters, but i'm learning to love RPGs

Console: NES
Games: Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I was 2 years old when my mom bought me this and I played it often. I don't know which game I played first but I have memories of all three games. Especially Duck Hunt. I still have the gun (though the NES is long dead).

My first ever game was Age of Empires. Ah the memories. Of course i was too young to be any good at it so i just cheated. After a while i figured out how to play properly.

An old arcade cabinet that my family owned called Mr. Do. First PC would be Monopoly.

Sega Genesis with Sonic 2 and Ecco the Dolphin.

Ecco is still the weirdest game I have ever played.

Edit: The first 'PC' game I remember owning was Spelunx [http://www.homeoftheunderdogs.net/game.php?id=4904]. The first ones that anyone is likely to remember were Myst and Marathon.

I cannot remember for the life of me. The earliest games I can remember playing are Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and the Oregon Trail (NES and Apple][e respectively), but I know none of those were the first.

My older brother had an NES from the time we were little kids, but he never let me play any games on them.

I didn't really play any videogames until we got a PC, when I was in about seventh or eighth. My stepdad loaned me a copy of Diablo II and I played that for awhile. I wasn't any good at it, but I liked it.

SNES: Super Mario all stars (first console games)

PC: Age of Empires (back when the idea of gaming on something I'd been brought up to believe was solely for work use was mind blowing...)

First game I ever recall playing was some weird Sesame Street game on the NES. Can't remember what you were supposed to do or what it was called though.

Mine was on the PC because it's the only gaming platform I've ever used.
The first game i recall playing was one where you had to do some simple math to save a guy from falling into a big bowl of lemonade (I wasn't very old at that time). If that doesn't count my first "proper" game was Lego Racers.
