I know I will get flak for listing rereleases but I had more fun with them than some of the games released this year. And my list is based on how much fun I personally had with the title.

5. Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS)
4. Max Payne 3 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
3. Tales of the Abyss (3DS)
2. Far Cry 3 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
1. Okami HD (PS3)

I only got, like, four new games this year, so it isn't hard.

4. Tales of the Abyss, like the OP, for the 3DS.
Haven't really gotten too far into it, but it's solid, and I really should get back to it soon.

3. Liberation Maiden for the 3DS.
This is a weird little shoot'em'up that Suda-51 put out on the 3DS for $8. It's fun, not very deep, and a little short, but it's a quirky title and it's pretty cheap.

2. XCOM: Enemy Unknown, for PC.
Holy shit. XCOM is so good. I can't extoll the virtues of this game enough. I feel it made me a better person. I did find the ending very disappointing, though.

1. DayZ, for PC.
DayZ is my top game because it's just such an interesting game. It's not far ahead of XCOM, but I've probably sunk more time into it by now, exploring and learning and dying and starting all over again. It's probably nowhere near as good as XCOM, but it's been a really good experience overall.

Max Payne 3 and Far Cry 3.

I'd mention Mass Effect 3, but that game sorta pissed me off and not because of the ending.

Didn't play Borderlands 2 but I didn't like the first anyways. Watched others play AC3 and I thought it looked "meh" even though the settings was awesome. Only game that might go on that list that I didn't try was XCOM, but then again I never like random number generators from WoW and most MMOs, so I can't tell you.

5. Max Payne 3
4. Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
3. Walking Dead
2. Dishonored
1. Mass Effect 3

I hope that after Christmas I will be able to change this list and maybe add Far Cry 3 and X-COM: Enemy Unknown instead of Max Payne 3 and Sins but we'll have to wait and see. Mass Effect 3 is definitely my Game of the Year though, that game was amazing. I was tempted to switch Walking Dead and Dishonored but Walking Dead wasn't really a game sooooo...

Pretty much this. Although I personally found it kinda cool how

The guy who survived the tutorial battle at the beginning of the game ended up becoming the guy who saved the world in my game. Especially considering that he could have died at any time throughout the game.

I have to mention the Season 3 reworks in LoL. It is like a new game, it's that different. Overall they made the game completely fresh and a lot of the more annoying stuff is flat out gone.

Supports are actually fun to play now, support junglers are less broken and not even viable in some cases, top is less likely to get instantly won or lost from one early lvl 2 gank and I love the new jungle. Ganking is this huge risk now if that's all you do. Especially if you don't get a kill out of it. You need to farm your jungle more since if the enemy jungler gets all of his jungle, then gets to counter yours when you're on the other side of the map you are fucked. The level and gold difference is huge.

MR and move speed got fucked over though. Why did they remove Force of Nature again? Goddammit I can't build straight move speed on HECARIM and Sonic Critboom their carry. Homeguard HECARIM is hilarious though. Almost 1000 movement speed. Fuck. I need to hit someone with that much movespeed, the AD bonus would be insane.

It's fun waiting for more broken ass stuff to be found, you can't stack Cleavers now finally, that was stupidly good.

As for actual new releases, FTL is awesome, Dark Souls is definitely up there regardless of the issues I have with the story (or lack of it) glad to see the sequel is going to have more story than fuck all.

Argh UMVC3 was released last December, that's close enough right? Yup, it's still hypest game ever one year on. Just...

OHHHHHH MAIIIIII GAWWWWWWD! Last match. 8:00. So hype.

Y'know, if IRL sports had commentators like this, they would be infinitely more interesting. Fuckin' Yipes XD

Need to get round to finishing those at some point because what I played of them I enjoyed.

Let's see...

1: SCV: There character creation is still lasting me even today. The game itself has its off-and-ons, but I still play it more frequently than any other game I own to this day.

2: Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition: Played it for many, many, many, many hours, with and without friends... We've made giant trees, towers, volcanoes, castles and lots of other excellent and astonishing things!

3: I dunno... other than SCV, it's not been a great year for me. I suppose I'd have to say Dragon's Dogma. Playing it with friends felt very involving despite it being single player. It was also bloody OK, it was.

4: Borderlands 2? It's alright I suppose. Gets repetitive after a while as the first did, but, while initially all the characters felt varied and interesting the more i played with each the less i liked them, except Salvador.

5: erm... ... ... Oh, Xbox 360 Minecraft! gotta reorder!
errrr...
I'm not sure i've even played any other 2012 games... I suppose I rented ME3, but I really did not like that, so...
What about PSAS:BR? It was a good effort that I do like, but it hasn't held my attention and it's buggy as hell.

4. Halo 4
5. Dishonored

I'll be playing Journey and Far Cry 3 in the coming weeks though, so my list might change.
