What would you like to see less or more of around here?

I would like so see more comic, tech, and movie news. And honestly, just more news in general. I never hear something first from the Escapist.

I'd like a better forum system, the other much fancier forums I have been to have more than just a text box. They have font options, color options, actual size options, etc. You know how much time we could save by not having to write and just to italicise something?

I've been wondering how a kudos or like system would do in here, but maybe not. The Escapist doesnt seem like that kind of crowd.

And as others have mentioned, less Disney Princess stuff and other "articles" like them, unless its as awesome as the Calvin and Hobbes/Force Awakens mashup.

For the forum community, being less passive-aggressive would be nice. In the other forums I frequent this is what they describe us as.

Sexism, racism and bigotry, however, should not be acceptable in any community that considers itself to be "inclusive" however. Unless this is the KKK website, I see no reason it should be, nor should people think that this is stormfront. That is why there is a time and place for things. Articles for racism on campus belong in Religion and politics.. The place for game industry discussion is not " what is an SWJ?" or " this chic slept with people and iz bad so we are going to keep talking about her years later" Those have nothing to do with gaming.
Why do you think that your interpretation should be paramount. Why is your view on what is racist and anti feminist more important than anyone else's. This site is a business and it cannot just cater to what you want hear and you not the moral arbiter of the world. If you want set editorial policy and only have things that you agree with, then form your own site or accept that you view is your own and is no more valid than anyone else's. These forums exist to generate page views and are not the vanguard of the revolution. Does it ever occur to you what you say other people might find offensive and should be censored. This site ignores their attempt to be moral arbiters just as much as it ignores yours. There are rules about offensive content and they are enforced but that does not mean things that you disagree with get banned.

So what you are saying is they should not ask people what they want to see more of or less of because they will actually tell them and then you will then tell everyone who answers that you disagree with they should not ask for more of or less of something because it cannot cater to what they want to hear? Gotcha.. Is that all you have to say on the subject so we can move along now since you seem to think you are now the escapist spokesperson?

Yes, it is a business, and as a business that has users of all races, genders, and sexes it should include them as part of it's user base by not catering to racists, sexists or bigots. Nor should sexists, racists or bigots expect to be catered to anywhere outside of stormfront or KKK sites... Saying things like "blacks are either successful college graduates or drug dealers" is racist no matter how you try to spin it, and would not be acceptable outside of places where racism is promoted and accepted, allowing such things to go unchecked also allows a site to be considered " racist community" and unwelcoming to all races, genders and sexes.

It would be cool to have maybe a resource for custom content/ mods for different games.. maybe even if they had it by genre since there are too many games and resources take up space. I used to get all kinds of maps from different sources for different games, even just linking the sources rather than actually having them uploaded would be good to help consolidate them. Links to mods/ maps custom content for games would be nice to have. Maybe a "Game Mods" section with different sub sections for genres? That reminds me.. I have like several boxes of discs and HD's full of custom content for games in my closet..
Yeah, I think you're right. It'd need breaking up by genre otherwise it'd be too cluttered, but a separate forum tab that was then sub-divided into 'Racing', 'FPS', 'Platformer' etc would allow people to find what they were after pretty handily. Even if it were simply links to various upload channels
it'd serve as a one-stop-shop for additional content. You'd need separate tabs for PC and consoles, too, given the proliferation of the PC modding community.
Yea , I think it would have to be like this:
Game mods
the PC and Console tabs
Then sub folders for genres..
Would take work and volunteers to help get it going, but would be really nice to have. I would help add links/ content for sure.. I have tons of oldschool stuff. :D
If they filed their News/ Features for that in there where it goes rather than in the other sections that would make it easier to use as well.

Just more stuff! This place is more lifeless than a cemetery!

It feels like since Moviebob and Sterling left, the Escapist just gave up on the 'Editorial/Opinion Piece' part of gaming and stuck with dry news usually 2 or 3 days after the event, or tangentially gaming related content like Cosplay or toys.

There are no more good debates, no more challenging content or shit to make you think and consider. Just "Oh hey, did you hear about the PS4 releasing a game last week? Oh, you did?! Oh, from literally every other gaming news site 6 days ago? Oh..." and "Look, Cosplay! That's still a thing!"

Well, someone has suggested enhancing flagging system (i.e., forcing people to actually write WHY they are flagging something) and I'd like this feature too.

As for things I'd like to see less of. Well, you know how on porn sites you'll NEVER see videos with certain genres/tags? I'd like the same feature on this site: I want threads with -isms in them to never, EVER EVER to appear on front page.

I would just LOVE if people here were able to simply accept that not everyone thought like them, regardless of where they are sitting. Oftentimes it feels as if this forum is completely devoid of normalcy and is instead wholly populated by fanatics and rabid fans of a political side, an agenda or a "cause".

I would love there to be thicker skin, a more mature mindset and less reporting.
I would love a lot of the users here to grow up and stop expecting to be catered to all the time.
I would love it if people would be able "agree to disagree" like what happens time and time again in real life, instead of being so stubborn and annoying as to refuse to do that.

I would love there to be a lot less quote-mining and for the people doing it to get banned.
I would love the obvious sock-puppet/alternate accounts to be banned. Joined 3 days ago but you have 50 posts all in GID? Get the fuck out.

EDIT:
I would add that I think including something like recieving a warning point for a frivolous report would help. A lot of people are reporting posts because they simply disagree with them or feel personally offended by a differing viewpoint. It is massively stupid and has no place on a board supposedly not only inhabited by people in their teens.
THIS.

Loading Ready Run has been doing stuff ever since they left. There are like 60 feed dumps since they left. The only thing they stopped was the weekly sketch they published here and unskippable. They also have started a bunch of new stuff since they left, like daily streaming of games, new podcasts, and the like. You should check out their actual website and their youtube channel.

OP: More articles, less videos. I almost never get around to the video content.
More game design analysis.
If you are going to do more videos, stuff like judging by the cover is fantastic.

I would like to go two weeks without seeing a spelling error, a headline that contradicted the content or vice-versa, a dangling tag, a broken link, an article with connected forum topic but no way to reach it... Basically, I would like to believe that someone other than the author reads articles before they reach the site. I try not to be all grammar-nazi, really I do, and I understand both that mistakes and typos happen and that I've made the occasional error in my own posts (though I do try to re-read and correct myself.)

...But I'm also not being paid for posting in forums, so...

I think most of the cosplay-related articles would be better served by articles with attached galleries rather than videos, but YMMV.

It seems as though a lot of the weekly content doesn't appear in the feed, or at least not regularly. So unless you're actually on the lookout for it, or regularly browse through the week schedule banner at the bottom of the page, you're missing some of the best stuff.

And for the fiftieth time or so, bring back the Film Festival. I know the last one was a bit of a wreck, what with creators being unable to fulfill their weekly obligations and so on, but just do it. Don't even offer a weekly spot as the prize if it's an issue; maybe someone could make a monthly rather than a weekly offering, or it could even just get Escapist viewers talking more about what they'd actually like to see on the site. Find a sponsor who's willing to pony up a gift card from Barnes & Noble or GameStop or Amazon; it doesn't even have to cost the Escapist much more than some time and server space.

+1 for galleries instead of videos for Cosplay ( * runs up and edits my list to add Cosplay*) ~Thanks.

Oh yeah! I know some times the escapist does interviews or similar content that kind of has to be in a video, but can we also get a gallery attached to those stories of the cosplay in question?

I'd love for there to be another video series like Apocalypse Lane or Unforgotten Realms. The great video content we used to have was one of the main reasons I stuck around (and got addicted to) the site.
