Today I was having a discussion with a friend of mine over what above all else we wanted out of life in the future. Personally, since I was young I've loved all kinds of comedy and feel that laughing and making somebody else laugh is one of the best feelings on earth. Obviously then, a future involving that would be my dream, be it through stand-up, comedy writing or whatever.

Well I've shared mine, what about you fellow Escapists?
Your dream is the same as mine. Freaky.
Race ya ;)

It's a awesome subject, my personal interest stems in stars, formation, life and eventual death, but the way a star works is just amazing, some reactions take millions of years based on probability functions, yet happen ten to thousands to millions and beyond of times a second due to the density and size of it, different rotational speeds proportional to the altitude from the equator given the star isn't a solid body, I could go on.

Job wise, I've found a number of solar observatories in Australia, Cuba and Hawaii, where the sun shines unlike the UK. Australia is my first choice and I plan to travel there for a month after my degree is completed. Whilst there I'll be trying to drop my CV in.
It sounds very complex but that only makes it even more amazing.

I also get the idea when looking at the jobs available that there are not many available here in Europe (except for ESA) and that the observatories are located in various countries near the equator (for obvious reasons). My point is, when looking for a job, you have to be ready to move away from your country in many cases.

Woop! Physics ftw! But not astrophysics... Stars bore me. Particle physics time!

No, really, I want to be a physicist. That's why I'm studying it at uni.
The way I understand the uni system works here in Denmark is that first you have to take a bachelor in Physics and then you can take a candidate in astrophysics. That means the first 3 years I will get a taste of many different branches of physics which is fine with me. Particle physics are also awesome, though it's a shame I don't know the details such as the mathematics behind it.

If you don't mind me asking, what have you thought of job wise?

A short list of dreams.

To become as manly as Jecht.
Become a famous and well paid, professional traceur.
Beat up pretentious little pricks and pussies in my spare time.
I'd love to do the voice-work of an Australian playable character in a Final Fantasy game, english dub, obviously.
Bring about the destruction of the comic-book industry.
Get a pet Capuchin Monkey.
Wrestle a crocodile.
See my Church of Manliness go global.

To be a scientist. More specifically an astrophysicist.

Yeah, I love physics.
This is the road I'm going down. Unfortunately, very little else holds my interest and I get very sleepy when they aren't talking about huge gaseous explosions in the deep bowels of space. Electrical circuits don't really compare, and by god there's a lot of tedium there, and In most physics really. Next year it's more astro though, yay!

Also, what furbert said, my ideal job would be self sustaining band. Not even remotely rich; hell I'd eat frickin noodles everyday if I could just be in a band. I even write music, kinda, but without other people the drive isn't really there. *sadface*
