What's the most disgusting piece of media (contentwise) you've enjoyed?

As in, what piece of media that you enjoy has the most disgusting, repulsive or otherwise appalling content? Anything and everything included: rape, child murder, bestiality, prolonged torture, extreme gore and so on.

For me the Koroshiya 1 (Ichi the Killer) manga is the current benchmark in this regard. There's hardly a boundary it won't overstep. I don't think a single part of the human body gets away from the series without being stabbed, pierced, punched, slashed, split, cut open etc. Every single main character, bar one, is an amoral thug or socio/psychopath. There's scenarios in it I couldn't have come up with in my wildest fantasies, some of which made me genuinely feel physically sick. The story is one escalating spiral of madness and the crazier it gets, the more you want to keep reading just to see what lunacy you'll witness next.

I genuinely enjoyed reading it the first two times, and do expect to do so when I someday read it for the third time. It's specifically the unapologetic insanity and will to show the reader things they never wanted to see that makes me enjoy and appreciate it. It's one of those things that constantly walks the line between horror and comedy, and shows how close the two are. I might even buy it online one day, that's how much I like it.

Which reminds me of another seinen manga I really enjoyed that also had some really nasty stuff in it: Shigurui, aka Death Frenzy. The ultra graphic content in it is fairly sparse in comparison to something like Berserk, but oh boy when it hits, it hits like a freight train. There's one particular surgery scene in it that will forever be burnt into my memory as one of the most graphic scenes I've ever seen in anything. It, as well, is quite good and I've thought about buying all the volumes some day as well.

Your experiences with this?

- A guy jacking off with blood on his penis while watching his crush get beaten and raped
- A guy being hung by his skin from chains, and threatened with dipping his penis into boiling oil
- A villain who very specifically modifies his henchmen's penises with various methods as punishment: splitting the tip, multiple piercings and more
- Said villain having S&M adventures wherein he asks a woman to beat him with brass knuckles while being tied up from head to toe
- A guy ripping another one's arm off with his bare hands
- The title character fantasizing about raping his high school crush
- Necrophilia
- Gun shoved up a guy's bum while hanging from a balcony, then getting shot in said bum, falling off the balcony in an airborne spiral of blood
- Nipples getting sliced off

And much more!

Sorry I can't elaborate as I gotta leave for a meeting in a few minutes, but just to help you get the ball rolling since I'm interested in this thread too here's a couple movies:

1) Irreversible
2) Hobo With a Shotgun
3) Salo (or 120 Days of Sodom)

Although I love the first 2, they all left me with something rather more bitter than the usual piece of torture porn or whatever you call it, either due to circumstances or just plain gratuity.

Crossed. It's the kind of thing that, if you were reading on your computer and someone happened to walk in, you'd switch the tab to porn because that would be easier to explain.

It's a comic with an... interesting take on the zombie apocalypse genre. People who are infected get a distinct + shaped scar across their faces and are stripped of all inhibitions and shame and obsessed with inflicting as much pain and suffering as possible. If you're not a fan of torture, rape, cannibalism, mutilation, dismemberment, disembowelment, necrophilia, pedophilia, incest, suicide, bestiality, assault with a severed horse penis or clowns then it's probably not for you.

Don't Google image search it unless you have a strong stomach.

What, you mean like hentai or something?

Because when it comes to actual fucked up, brutal, horrid, mind scarring shit, I don't think I've ever genuinely enjoyed that. Even with something like Franken Fran, it's more akin to a morbid curiosity that keeps me reading rather than enjoyment. And afterward I don't feel in any way enriched by it.

I guess Berserk comes the closest, since it certainly isn't for the faint of heart, as it features rape, torture, and people generally coming to a grisly end, but the gratuity never takes over from the absolutely brilliant story and characters.

Bad Taste the first film by Peter Jackson. It actually almost made me throw up at one point (the only move to do so, though as point I very much don't watch splatter films or gross em ups), but I stuck with it, and enjoyed it for its sheer lunacy and energy.

Don't feel I could handle Braindead or Meet The Feebles though.

I did get forced to sit Freddy Got Fingered once... but I very much LOATHED every mean spirited little minute.

Berserk or Genocyber. Yeah I'm a lightweight. Anything else I've ever seen that exceeds those I always find stands on the shock value alone without worrying about if there's any point to it. Even Genocyber seems like it treats the last 20 minutes of the pilot as a signal to become as nonsensically gruesome and Lovecraftian as humanly possible before the entire city is destroyed. It only gets nastier from there.

Ravenous. I love the hell out of that film but its quite disturbing. Cannibalism set in the midwestern US during the Civil War era. Guy Pierce and Robert Carlyle square off in the film. Its tough to really talk about the plot without giving it away but it really is worth a view, just creepy.
I'm not one for the uber-gory or "disturbing" type movies as they go over the top most of the time and it really takes away from the overall tone of the film, which is why I'm not an Eli Roth fan. But Ravenous does the best with its material and manages to creep me out and captivate me all the same.
I don't have a weak stomach, just having seen enough real life horrors has kind of taken away most of the impact of movie magic and I just don't find disgusting material all that engrossing, for the most part. There's always special cases but I have to get honest recommendations from sources I trust.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy horror flicks in general when they're done well enough to terrify me or over-the-top enough to be goofy.

Rin, Daughters of the Mnemosyne springs to mind. Really good 6 part anime series about immortal ladies and fucked up angels with huge time jumps between episodes. It's also got a taste for brutal violence, since the protagonists are immortal in the sense that their bodies are preserved in the state that they became immortal, kind of like a save state. Rin became immortal with an minor eye condition so she'll always have to wear glasses, since if she went through corrective surgery her body would revert back to her pre-operation state. Basically means there's lots of torture and bloody violence with no physical consequence to the character, and the series relishes in that opportunity. It's good series though, the guy who plays Kawaru in Evangelion is in it playing... Kawaru, basically. He's good.

Fathers Day. A film from your friends at the Troma company.

I don't think I can describe the plot without being reported.

I got this by accident and nearly vommed at some of the scenes. When life gives you razorblades, make a baseball bat with razorblades indeed. Just over the top... everything.

EDIT- just rewatched some of the scenes- decapitation via manhole covers, torching a bus full of children and a really really really rapey side villain (can you... feel me?) yeah I don;t want to watch this again

As others have already said, Berserk is the only series I've ever seen that had horrible and disgusting things happen, that I ever felt was a legitimately good piece of media. It's not for the faint of heart, yet rewards those who brave it with some of the best story and characters in fiction.

Otherwise, I don't really find myself entertained by things that are legitimately disturbing. I refuse to watch the Saw movies and such as they are just torture porn.

Probably the only thing I can think of with a truly shocking moment that I still enjoyed is The Revenant. The scene with the bear is one of the most brutal moments I have ever seen in a film. Yet, you can't look away. And they don't sugarcoat the aftermath, either. This isn't torture porn or meant to shock. It actually drives the plot forward from there. And it's a beautifully shot film. A lesser film would have lost me on that moment.

Preacher.

Preacher is a circus act of genuinely sickening brutality, deprivation and violence. I used to think you'd get arrested for making a comic with this sort of stuff in it. I also thought there was no way I could make it through the complete series without either puking or giving up.

But I saw right away that there was a damn good comic behind the sleaze and gore, so I took my chances on it - and it proved me wrong on all counts while blowing my mind over and over again with its awesomeness. Preacher is poignant, suspenseful and hilarious, often at the same time, and by making you genuinely feel the characters' pain, anguish and disgust, it makes their triumphs feel absolutely glorious.

Preacher is the most disgusting, and the most uplifting, thing I have ever read.

Just in case it interests someone, there is a character known only as Arseface. You'll know exactly why the moment you see him.

Stole my pick, I was sold on those comics as soon as I saw the guy holding a dolphin up with knives buried in it's body while fucking it in it's blowhole and later someone beating a woman to death with a baby, it's f***ing hype.

But yes its rather shocking and all that and very gruesome recommend 10/10

I saw Oldboy yesterday, so I'd say that takes the cake as far as movies are concerned. The torture/action scenes alone had me twisting in my seat, and that's before the twist just sent the movie to Hell. Overall though, I liked it because of the excellent screenwriting, editing and direction. All that nastyness works together really well, somehow.

Oh yeah, and Death Grips. A group that is dedicated to a love/hate relationship with their fans, cryptic lyrics and music that is generally about the depraved, primal and ultra-aggressive side of modern life. Getting into them requires effort and patience, but once you break through that barrier, they're one of a kind.

Trying to actually get away from them now, but it's proving exceedingly difficult sadly ;D

To me Hobo crossed the line. I was expecting it to be a Machete-style pastiche, but something in it was wrong, and it just felt mean-spirited and sadistic instead of gleefully nutty. Perhaps it was the oversaturated color contrast combined with the frenetic filming style, editing and completely bonkers over the top acting that it felt like watching a waking nightmare. Scenes like where the female lead was getting slowly decapitated with a hacksaw while another bad guy whacks the main character in the back with an ice skate, or when the female lead (see a pattern here?) got her arm fed into a lawnmower removed any enjoyment I might have had from the film. One of the few films I wish I'd never watched to begin with.

Just saw The Revenant today, and yeah, it's quite squick-worthy in places. One of the grimiest, dirtiest, heaviest, most raw, grim and brutal viewing experiences I've ever had. The final fight scene reminded me a lot of the Dan Dority fight from Deadwood's 3rd season with its sense of weight and grime. The bear scene had me genuinely wincing, especially when it was raking Leo's back. Here in Scandinavia it's got a 16+ rating, but IMO it could easily have been 18+. Not only was the violence raw and ugly, but the atmosphere of fighting for your life was utterly overbearing.

I think Preacher could be even more shocking if it was illustrated by someone else. The artwork as is is fine, but the nasty stuff feels somehow off. The blood is practically brown in some scenes, and black in others, and it takes a bit away from the punch it could have. Though if the graphic scenes were illustrated to their full potential, it could easily push the shock factor too far and drive readers away.

The OVA series Boku no Pico... There's something about watching Pico doing slice-of-life shit that get the blood pumping... Oh wait... That did not come out right...

I blindly bought that series on DVD years ago at Comic-Con... Totally worth watching twice a year, at least...

What if you just watched the first movie, since it's the only one that actually tries to have a "logical" plot?

I guess the manga of Battle Royale is the only thing I can remember as something I found disgusting, i'm pretty hard to gross out just from gore but volume one of BR is horrible.

I mean there was a Visual Novel simply titled Yandere and yeah it pretty much does what it says on the tin, typical romance VN but all of the girls are hardcore yanderes, it was some legit psychological fucking horror, holy shit. I got decently far into it but then Meiko was like "top kek, i'm going do some disgusting shit to myself for fun" and I quietly uninstalled. Well played game, you baited me into picking the one that looked least threatening then fucked me for it.
