As for me, I'm just abbreviated to Nick most of the time. Occasionally I get a 'McLovin', but that's mostly stopped since this messy adolescence thing happened.
Labi, It's just the short version of my name. Everyone calls me like that and I never even tell anyone to do that, it just seems natural for everyone who meets me. Even new people I've just met, call me like that after a short while. What really astounded me the most was when some teachers started to call me like that. That feels sometimes a bit awkward.
My last name, generally speaking.
It's a direct homonym of a "cool word"; it actually is that word if you were to hack the last extraneous e off the end of my name.
Dan, Danny, Dan D. Man, A The Dan, Steely Dan, Spaniel, Achievement Whore, Geek, and Swamp Donkey. And those are just the ones that I currently respond to. If I were to open it up to all my past nicknames, I'd be here all day.
Basically, in some shitty class, we had to replace the letters in our name by another predetermined letter. My name is Tom and it became Dug. Most other names were things like Htzlg or Gunxpvo... So people have called me that ever since.
Family members call me Jimmy, which I otherwise wouldn't like, and most everyone else calls me Parker, because that's my surname, and it's all anyone ever seems to call me.
My ex called me Nebula (or Nebba for short) sometimes. He said my eyes looked like nebulas, hence the name. Even though we're not together anymore, I kept the name. Because it's awesome.
I've been called a bunch of things over my life, however, recently it's been "Chrisp" (My name is Chris) due to my friends 4 year old niece having difficulty pronouncing it without the P >_>...
Hmm... I have a couple that are just shortened versions of my real name (same number of syllables, so I dunno why).
My sister often calls me vuvo (vuh-voh) because that was what she pronounced "brother" as when she was a toddler. She's 18.
My friends in another town took to calling me CC (see-see) one day and it stuck. Nobody knows what the two Cs stand for, but I think it's my name twice.
