When did Tekken cross with Virtua Fighter?

I just watched the preview video of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 on Youtube and noticed something a bit odd about Kazuya's tag partner as it seems to be Lion from the Virtua Fighter series!

I havent paid attention to Tekken since the 5th edition but when did Sega and Namco team up on Tekken cos I would have thought it would be big news?

Also the fact that all they've done is change his name to Leo. His look and fighting style appear to be identical to the original Virtua Fighter character!

Opinions?

Er, I suppose you missed this then?

Haven't you heard? Fighting game crossovers are all the rage now. I suppose Tekken and Virtua Fighter would just be yet another opportunity to see characters from different universe clash on the 2D fighting plane of battle.

Embrace the crossovers! They are the way of the future!

Leo was introduced in tekken 6 though yes he is pretty much a carbon copy fighting games have been doing it for decades how many shoto clones are there in King of fighters for example.

I looked them both up(since I haven't played either game), but from my perspective, they both look like completely different characters, unlike say Bob from Tekken 6 and Rufus from SF4.

Indeed, what he said. Though there is only one King of Fighters clone in Street Fighter, and he is God Tier!

@ Z of the Na'vi: Yeah, fair point I guess, I suppose it could be just Namco's way of saying "We beat you, Suck it" to Sega lol.

@ Nmil-ek: I meant stopped paying attention to 'generic' Tekken, Street Fighter X Tekken is a whole different kettle of fish. They are delicious fish and I must eat them.

You really need to bookmark this -Shoryuken.com- to your internet browser then. If anything fighting game news related (SSF4, Tekken, Tekken Tag, tournaments, etc)happens, it will pop up on there =]

Oh my god thank you :D And so I contribute to the discussion, yeah the two characters do look kinda similar, but Leo's face looks more childlike.
