so I've only found dates on the internet before, and I'm starting to think the real world might be a better place to look.
Mostly I'm looking for someone with shared interests, games, anime, anything nerdy works. Where should I look? What hobbies tend to have a larger proportion of female participants, or just what hobbies tend to involve large enough groups that I can meet a lot of people some of whom are female?
In my experience, the internet is one of the worst ways of actually hooking up with girls (it makes communication easy, but that's where the benefits start and finish). Real life is where it's at.
Where can you find geeky girls? Well, just about ANYWHERE.
The obvious geek-havens would be stuff like:
- Comics or anime conventions (girls love cosplay)
- LARP groups
- Wargaming and roleplay groups
- Anime or scifi film societies
The only downside is that the above are all male-dominated, so if you're trying to get with girls in these environments, prepare to be cock-blocked pretty hard by all the other guys with exactly the same intentions as you.
So, let's broaden our horizons a bit.
In my experience, other great places to meet a variety of women:
- Nightclubs. Don't want a bleached blonde bimbo? Go to a rock or metal club, you get a distinctly different type of person there.
- The workplace!
- Sports clubs, especially certain martial arts.
- Language courses. Always popular with girls, and plenty of opportunities for "partnering up" and conversation.
- The goldmine: dance classes. Not ballet or tap, choose something that traditionally has male and female roles, like salsa or ballroom. Men are always in demand in classes like these.
And as always, the golden rule is: GET OUT THERE. Just go out with friends. Chat to their friends, or random people at the bar. Don't be pushy or desperate, things happen in their own time. But always remember, the girl of your dreams won't come knocking on your door. YOU have to get out there and meet people.
