If you aren't a total jackass, you will probably avoid moderator action. Trust me, I've had a couple of people get on a vendetta against me for an apparent wrong I did them, but since I was never rude or insulting, the mods never did anything against me.
Lucky for you you got the Neo badge before you incurred modwrath.
Actually, I've never incurred mod wrath, which was my point. If people are jackasses to you, but you don't return the favor, they'll go down, and you'll be fine. If you return fire, however, you are likely to go down with them.

This is a very wise piece of advice.

Sorry, it just fit this thread so well in my mind.
Well. That works. I'll move the stuff out of my house before it burns down.

You think the moderators on this site are harsh? Really?
I'm not saying thats a bad thing. I like how they've really tried to make a more intelligent group of internet nerds as opposed to the usual [explative] + [noob or fag] + [some sexual activity with your mother] internet nerds.

I honestly can't tell. Things that seem reasonable to me get banned here. Like whenever Yahtzee post stuff and people say great job, they get put on probation, which I find odd.

Maybe Yahtzee just hates us.

The only sure way to get banned/suspended on the spot is too insult someone. A really stupid post/topic or a mild insult will give you a probation. A history of slightly stupid (but not stupid enough for a probation on the spot) will add up resulting in a suspension, usually for a week. The best example of this would be MaxTheReaper who was suspended for a week for a post that would not have gotten someone with a clean posting history in any trouble. The line changes for people depending on their past histories. Some people can move further away from the line for being great posters, some people move closer for not being so great. Everything changes and the line for one poster may vary for another.

There is no set line. Not only are many posts overlooked (due to not enough reporting) so one can get away with some subtle stuff. Also the line seems to vary between moderators, only slightly, but I do think that there is variation.

Also, this is what the motherfucking guidelines are for. They pretty much tell you were the line is. Maybe people should read them?

The mods are all people. Also I doubt you know every post the person made when you are sitting there going "Yeah that was rude, but not ban worthy" Maybe that was the 10th post that person made that got mod attention that day, maybe some of them where worse.

Hell I think they are doing a great job. I read the rules, I follow them as well as I can, and try not to piss anyone off to much. Has been working for me so far.

Or maybe it was because they posted "good job" about a 6 min long video one min after it was posted and there was no chance in hell they could have actually watched it. In other words they are trying to sneak in a "first" post and getting caught.

I've seen a couple people banned for leaving an "lol wut" post, and I've seen much more serious things ignored, so I don't know where the line is either.
