I'll admit, I'm not much of a patriot. I don't have a lot of pride in my university, nor do I have a lot of spirit for my country. Beyond that, though, I tend to take pride in places I refer to as home.

The Escapist, for the brief time I've been here, has been my internet home, and I take a lot of pride in it. Probably misplaced, but it's my place of internet residence. There's some deep-rooted feeling of home I get from this forum. Maybe it's the people, maybe it's the friends, or maybe it's just that I've always liked the color blue. Completely regardless of all of the above, I tend to think of this place as my home.

As such, I'd like to encourage everyone to shoot 'em a vote in the People's Vote [http://pv.webbyawards.com/images/logo_pv.png?1240413727].

So, in lieu of making this a completely pointless thread...

There are places people become comfortable. Have you made the Escapist your internet home? Do you have another place that you call home? Are you normal enough not to assign places of familiarity to internet websites?

What the... dance dance kitty?

*shakes head*

I already voted... despite my work CPU really hating the coding on the Webby site.

Still, GO ESCAPIST!

*Paints face blue and white and acts like an idiot... gets clubbed in the street because people mistake him for a Canucks fan*

I just voted for them in the webby awards, I tried to avoid it because I've never actually used another games-related website for comparison, but I just got a system message asking me to so I obliged.
I suppose this is my other home to facebook, if I've got the internet up I usually have facebook in one tab and this in another regardless of what im doing.

Blimey. I thought i said that?

I think its a case for a lot of people that facebook is in a tab though not often is the escapist in one as well.

I suppose the escapist is my internet "home" as there is never a day that goes by without me flicking through its pages and, if i feel like it, contributing to its entertaining and sometimes even insightful community. I have done my bit and voted for them at the webby; hopefully they will get the win!

I spend some time on jimmyr.com every day. It's everything important on the internet that day in one simple site.

Hmm, well my home has changed as my interests have changed. I used to be really into anime, and hence an anime website was the place I called home. Then I got into a phase where I really liked swords and other weapons like that, so a weaponry/martial arts website became my home. Currently, my hobbies include video games, pot, and reading, so the escapist and 420chan are where I spend most of my time. I haven't found a really good one for books, but I'm still looking.

Voted already a couple of days ago.

Anyway, The Escapist and Facebook is where I spend most of my time, though I don't regard Facebook as "Home". That title's reserved for this glorious place.

*Cheers for The Escapist*

yep, I always have the escapist in a tab no matter what I'm doing, sometimes I have a song on youtube in another. The escapist is my home.

I think this sums up the escapist,

yep the escapist is as awesome as a giant, demonic, boomerang shuriken

The Escapist is sort of like a summer home. RPG.net's Tangency Open is kind of my Internet home.

A few months ago I would have been quick to vote, but now...In both the site's content and it's community, it's no longer my 'internet home', what attracted me to the Pist was the small, friendly and close-knitted community. I've never found a site where I'd find myself playing Paranoia with one of the mods, for example. As the site grew much larger, it lost that appeal - not that it isn't still a great website, but the original charm of it is now absent.

It's like coming back to your small, old-fashioned home-town, and finding that the only place that doesn't have a Starbucks is the new casino...

Bleh, what do I know, I'm an old fart.

This place is my Internet Home. Best forum I've found on the internet.

People are good, site has great content, fair moderators, and no pop-ups.
