If I want to get into Green Lantern comics, where should I start? Most of what I know about Green Lantern is from Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and the only Green Lantern I'm really familiar with is Hal Jordan.

I believe one of the graphic novels was like a beginner guide on Hal Jorden like an origin story or something like that (I can't remember which one but it was on sales due to the live action film but by all means the novel itself has NOTHING related to the film!).
If you want something animated then I highly suggest watching "Green Lantern: First Flight". The other film "Green Lantern: Emerald Knight" is best to watch later, despite being the same animation to First Flight, the story/ characters are not related to that film at all. Emerald Knight serve more as a character spotlight on the other members in the Corp.
Also I find this video to be somewhat handy as in given a brief history on the whole GL history

I'm told that Geoff Johns is a great writer when it comes to GL, so begin with something he wrote. That's what you always should do when you want to get started on reading a comic -- find a story that seems interesting and start reading. Don't be too worried about finding "Good Places To Start For New Readers."
