So I heard a rumor on the internets that the new Superman movie could portray the classic fight from "The Dark Knight Rises" between Superman and old man Batman.
While I'm sure the studio would never cast an actual old man in a summer blockbuster leading role, what mature bull do you think could best handle the role of Grandpappy Bats?

Old batman? There is only one person in my mind for that role, Clint Eastwood.

I've been wanting a Batman Beyond movie forever, and every time I think about it, Clint Eastwood always seems like the perfect choice for old Bruce Wayne.

Seriously, he wouldn't even have to change any of his mannerisms for the role, he would basically just play himself and be perfect.

God damn it, they better make a Batman Beyond movie before Clint Eastwood dies, or I'm going to be pissed.

Beat me to Clint Eastwood.

Beat me to saying a live action Batman Beyond movie would be badass.

Are you my mother?

In seriousness, and more on topic, I agree with Dirty Hipsters, that the best man for the role would be Clint Eastwood.

No, I'm actually you from a parallel dimension. Everything about us is exactly the same except for one small difference that drastically changes everything.

The guy who voiced him in the animated adaption of "The Dark Knight Returns" did a fantastic job playing old Batman, mostly because his voice is as deep as the Earth's core.

If he looks the part? Doubt it.

I also highly doubt they would have old Batman in the film. I am just wondering who they are going to get to play Bruce Wayne. I wonder how much money they would have to give to get Christian Bale back.

You know what makes me sad? There actually was a Dark Knight Returns film in the works at one point, and Clint was who they wanted to play old Batman. I don't even like The Dark Knight Returns all that much, and I still want to see this film more than I can put into words.

Jack Nicholson.
I know, I know, it'd be uncanny to see him go from Joker to Batman, but I'd still like to see him growling at that young Superman wippersnapper.

So, how 'old' are we talking here?

Clint Eastwood would make a great 'geriatric' Batman, but I feel Josh Brolin [//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Brolin] would make a good Batman just past his prime.

No to Clint Eastwood, that man doesn't have the personality to do it. He's got grumpy old man, but he doesn't have the aged dark knight in him. Maybe once upon an empty chair on a stage, but not now. I'm gonna say Tom Selleck, his mustache has got the perfect Dark Knight Returns look.

How about Morgan Freeman? They could have Batman pull a reverse Michael Jackson.

I second Josh Brolin and Clint Eastwood, and add in Mister Stephan Dillane. He'd have to fake an American accent, but for some reason he reminds me a lot of an older Christian Bale. He definitely has the dark, morose quality to him that an elderly Batman would need.

You god motherfucking damn Ninja you!!

I literally saw the title of the thread and thought "Clint Eastwood". Clicked on it, and bam, first post has ruined my entry into this thread.

So yes. Clint is your man. Because he's almost as badass as Batman without fucking trying. All he has to do is show up, and be Clint Eastwood.

Christopher Walken, no question.
Or Morgan Freeman.

Or if you want a serious answer, then I would say Christopher Lee. The accent might be little off, but, damn, he's a great actor who can always play a bad-ass.

Damn, Christian Slater would make a great older Riddler (getting a little tangential now, I'll keep that in check)

Rutger Hauer. 69 and still looks like he could bend you in half with a glare. Perfect voice for the part, too.

Then he really would be the Dark Knight. But it would be a bad choice, we wouldn't see any bat gadgets and Batman would defeat all of his enemies with a combination of thoughtful monologues and freckles.
