You know something? I like new site design. I think it looks cleaner, I rather prefer the brighter colors, I like the look of the forums/news blocks and I like the pop-up drop-down menus at the top of the site.
Call me stupid all you want. i like the new escapist.

You're stupid.

Sorry, couldn't resist, but you did leave yourself open :p

I already wrote a reply here about how I didn't hate it now it wasn't quite so eye-searing. I should make it clear that I much, much prefer the old design, but I can live with this. HOWEVER! The site then ate my response three or four times, as it has been doing a lot over the past few days, and has been slower than my cousin Reg who got kicked in the head by a horse.

Maybe once these problems are fixed, I can learn to love it more, but at the moment the whole re-design seems to have caused more trouble than it was worth. Also, while I'm on-topic, if anyone knows how to access the 'latest threads' part of the forum without activating it as an RSS feed, please let me know...

I still prefer the old one but it's not as bad as many have made it out to be. Plus the whiteness isn't actually bothering me any more. Probably because they've added a hint of grey to the side-bars to off set the white.

So yeah, I like it, although I prefer the old one. As for the site being slow...it's always been a bit fickle about the whole "Working" thing. XD

There ya go, think that's what you're referring too. Just bookmark that and you should be set.
Although it's not updated since the 13th on my end of things. :p

Same here, it appears. Balls.

Oh well, thanks anyway!
The "Hot" threads are updating fine though, if you fancy those instead.

Other than the fact that it's a little tiring on my eyes because of all the white and that it is slow at times... I have nothing against it.

I can't understand how the white bothers people - it literally has no effect on me. Maybe I just go outside too much.

I have no problems with it, the new layout makes it easier to find things and switch between the forums. The whiteness isn't much of a problem, especially now as the Chrome (and Firefox too I think) app Stylish [http://userstyles.org] can be used to bring back the old colouring style around the edges using this code:

body {

/*background: none #1C436C !important;*/

background: #000000 url(http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7486/escapistbackground2.png) repeat-y scroll !important

}

}

Pretty nice eh?

Nah, I tend to ignore hot threads, they've usually already gotten long.

I prefer to jump on board a new thread with a low post count, so as not to have to read through five pages of comments only to have whatever I was going to say lost in the hubbub. With a newer thread, if you've got something worth saying, there's a better chance of it being responded to or fostering a conversation. In those with high post counts, they generally get to a point a couple of pages in where a few people are having a discussion/argument and occasionally someone else chimes in and is completely ignored.

I quite like it. I've experienced no problems with slow posts, or the website being slow, and it's not as a pain to navigate as people make out, I understood it fine within my first hour of the site revamp.

I just wish they got rid of that baby-blue color! The black-blue Escapist color that you see all the time on the site is much better.

I don't mind the layout it is just I don't like how much slower it is and that I don't seem to get a notification when I'm quoted anymore.
