Who else thought Prototype was extremely cheap?

I mean, I would have loved this game if everything about it's combat wasn't so cheap and frustrating.

The hunters just keep attacking you with this swiping movement until you roll out the way and even then you still get hit by the next three.

You get knocked over by rockets constantly while soldiers and other things chip away at your health.

The devastator moves take at least two seconds to activate once you've pressed the button and it stops activating when you get hit by a rocket or a hunter which is ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

The hydra brings cars out of nowhere and throws them at you with pointpoint accuracy to where you are heading.

Even while you have six helicopters, super soldiers and tanks on you they still keep ordering about fifteen strike packages.

Don't even get me started on the fucking bosses!

Oh yea and STOP ATTACKING ME WHEN I'M TRYING TO CONSUME AND HEAL!

I felt the exact same about The Hulk UD.

Does anyone feel the same? Or did you find it easy and I plain suck? It's probably why I enjoyed inFAMOUS more. You don't get the same feeling of being a badass but it was more focused and more importantly less annoying.

EDIT:GAH fuck, I'm fighting Elizabeth Green now for the first time and she just spews crap at me while hunters rape me everytime I go to heal. I'm just gonna use devastators on her if I actually get a chance to heal because of the respawning hunters.

I agree, kinda. It was pretty damn cheap at points. The missions were mostly frustrating instead of fun to me. The only fun part was murdering tons of civilians as a relief from the frustrating main missions, but eventualy like all the civilians dissapeared and it got pretty damn boring.

While some of what you said was true I still found the game to be one thing that many games don't have now. Pure mindless fun. It's like a Saints Row with super-powers.

I found it to be plain mindless fun. I didn't have problems with any of the things you describe. I think you could need some more practice if you have so much trouble...

When I read the title to this thread I thought "extremely cheap, I paid a bloody fortune".

But I found it fun, not perfect, but not bad.

The game had a degree of challenge, but if I (with my quite frankly limited skills) could finish it, then it's not that bad. However, it does have a few "Learn To Play!" sections that come out of nowhere and catch you off guard.

Maybe you should stop sucking.

To elaborate:

The hunters just keep attacking you with this swiping movement until you roll out the way and even then you still get hit by the next three.
Roll faster. Get some distance. Stop getting hit.

You get knocked over by rockets constantly while soldiers and other things chip away at your health.
Rockets can be dodged. Stop getting hit.

The devastator moves take at least two seconds to activate once you've pressed the button and it stops activating when you get hit by a rocket or a hunter which is ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
Utilise air devestators if necessary, or pre-emptively do it when hunters are charging you. Alternatively for rocket troops, jump into the mass and do a short knockback followed by a devestator attack to prevent being rocketed.

The hydra brings cars out of nowhere and throws them at you with pointpoint accuracy to where you are heading.
It's not hard to dodge hydra cars at all. They appear on your map and you just need to be aware of them.

Even while you have six helicopters, super soldiers and tanks on you they still keep ordering about fifteen strike packages.
Maybe you could try running away.

Oh yea and STOP ATTACKING ME WHEN I'M TRYING TO CONSUME AND HEAL!
Stop standing in the middle of fifty enemies trying to consume? Jump back a bit, round a corner, whip-grab a guy, consume, move, whip-grab, consume, move.

GAH fuck, I'm fighting Elizabeth Green now for the first time and she just spews crap at me while hunters rape me everytime I go to heal. I'm just gonna use devastators on her if I actually get a chance to heal because of the respawning hunters.
Dodge the crap while killing+consuming the hunters, throw cars at her with musclemass power active, steal helicopters/tanks, aerial devestators, whip power.

Easy.

Elizabeth green was problably the only fight in the game I thought was a little bit cheap mainly because my favorite way of dispatching everything was to throw the biggest things I could possibly and those damn hunters that no matter how many times I killed constantly spawned and knocked my cars and big chunks of cement out of my hands. Until the tanks showed up then I used them.

I found that if I ignored the story missions and did my own thing, I had fun. The missions were ultimately frustrating and the cutscene graphics and voice acting wildly sub-par. I wouldn't call it the biggest disappointment of a game, but I'm not overly impressed.

Bit harsh. I got through the game fairly easily, but the combat still felt cheap to me, and I often ended up using easy moves in every fight (ie. the whipfist). I'd prefer it if combat like a intense and fast paced battle pof skills rather than me waiting for a chance to hide behind the nearest building while consuming people. Essentially, you always end up resorting to hit and run tactics, which never feels satisfying.

There's a difference between "cheap" and "hard"; Prototype would still feel cheap on the easiest difficulty setting. It never felt as if you deserved it when you died. For example, both the super soldiers and the hunters relied purely on their ability to gang up on you, preventing you from fighting them properly.
