Woodstock is the outdoor festival to which all others is compared. But who else should have performed their?

Deep purple: Hush and Wring that neck

Led zeppelin: Led zep just got started when woodstock was going on, they could have performed a blistering 20 minute version of dazed and confused

The Beatles: the beatles were half broken up by this time, but they could have gotten together and made 1 big farewell concert

Cream: yes I know cream broke up 2 years earlier, but they could have gotten back together for 1 afternoon and done Spoonfull and white room to all the stoned hippies.

I'm just gonna say it: Rebecca Black. ANYTHING looks like a masterpiece next to her "song," ergo the performers at Woodstock would have been all the more famous.

I really hope contemporary artists weren't required, 'cuz I know fuck-all about musical history...

zeppelin turned woodstock down, not their style.

apart from those already mentioned (including Spirit! you're the first person I've seen on the internet who's heard of them), the Doors and Procol Harum

No one. Woodstock should never have happened and the sooner we stop pretending it was a good thing, the better
It's a fairly good concert movie, and the performances and range thereof were excellent. Not entirely consistently excellent, but I'm somewhat confused as to why it "never should have happened".

of course it's a good tape, the bands were awesome, except for all the ones that suck, but that's a matter of taste and i won't go into how jimi hendrix is the most overrated douchetard in rock history.
That's not the issue. If we were just talking about a music festival in general, we could go on all day long about who should be there, who should take their Who-ripoff stage act and die in a fire, and it would be a much simpler answer.

Woodstock should never have happened from a historical perspective. The result was a disaster on human terms and the only people who think it was all for the best were too stoned to notice and the rest of us who weren't there.

Let's start with the "glorious hippie gathering of peace and love" that it never was. a couple dumbasses decided that they could capitalize on the hippie crowd, because the hippies are/were stupid and will buy anything you tell them as long as you say that "the man" is against it.
So these two tools decide to host a music concert, all well and good. But they can't plan for shit. and they outright lie to get the space. And they lied to promote the show.

then lets get to the drug-addled youth wallowing in their own filth for a week so they could "fight the power, man". something like 80% of the audience forced their way onto the property and didnt even bother TRYING to pay. then add in the fact that this crowd of unwashed, tripped out layabouts ruined the land they were squatting on, and damn near choked the entire town with crowding and abandoned vehicles. oh, and the people that died, but I'll admit, i just dont really care about that.

anyway, i dont feel like going into much further detail, so essentially, Woodstock was a prime example of how awful people really are, with a decent soundtrack.

you know, like a tarantino movie

okay, that woodstock should TOTALLY happen

Does it have to be in the same time frame? I think the Black Metal band Bathory should of played, with all the satanic lyrics, scream singing, and extreme gothic clothing would of freaked all the tripping hippies into comas.

They already did that Tarantino movie. It was called Altamont.

As for Hendrix being overrated:
