Hello friends,

In this thread we talk about which developer is best to make John wick the game. I know John wick the game exist. exist before John wick and its called Max Payne but imo I also want to see John wick the game starrting keannu reeves.

I think best possible developer would be either Rockstar team who made Max payne 3 or Remedy. John wick game should be Max payne style third person shooter but bullettime replace by gunfu mechanics.

I know lot of games based on movies but why not make game best on best movie ever made? lets discuss

Yeah sure, I suppose Rockstar could work. They can bring the production values, though they're not the greatest when it comes to tight shooting mechanics, which imo would be a big priority for a John Wick game.

The John Wick setting is pretty similar that of Hitman, so IO Interactive might be a good choice too.

John Wick is not the best movie ever made though. It's not even the best action movie of its year. That would be The Raid 2.

To me it is. the original one. I never seen any movie as engaging and as badass as John wick. and as a fan of 80s and 90s action movies. these kind of movies are not being made much.

Entire John wick trilogy is best movie trilogy ever imo.

Remedy, Red Entertainment (the guys behind Gungrave), or Platinum games. Rockstar I wouldn't trust cuz they're going to screw it up somehow. I know there's an isometric John Wick game coming out next year.

Glad you enjoyed them that much, sadly I found JW 2 and 3 to be incredibly boring. The first one at least had freshness of style to it, and an emotional element that I was invested in. 2&3 were just murder-fests with ever increasing set designs. Which...I mean ok, they look nice sure, but they don't do it for me by themselves.

To your question, there already is a John Wick game being developed, and is designed sort of like a turn based combat game, like XCOM or something similar. Though it's built to be more fast paced and frenetic. I remember seeing a short demo of it, and it was all about having the game paused to try and calculate the split second things JW does to survive the army of mooks. Duck down, turn left, kick guy in leg, take gun, headshot, turn left 90degrees, shoot guy in groin, follow with headshot, move 5 steps behind cover, flank new guy, etc etc. And you have to try and plan out the method to avoid dying. So, maybe something like Superhot, but more strategy. *shrugs* hard to describe it,but it looked interesting.

I guess IOI could do it. They can nail the atmosphere, gunplay and all the shallow and uninteresting characters that your heart desires.

Clearly we should leave it up to Sega or Bamco to make a light gun arcade game.

I was thinking that a John Wick game would just be another lousy bad adaptation from movie to videogame that shouldn't ever be made... but then I had an idea. You don't market it AS a John Wick game, but as a sequel to Superhot. Make it all abstract, with that same Superhot game mechanics... but at the end of the game your levels are played back at normal speed AND are reskinned as action sequences in... the John Wick game. The hook is, you were the action coordinator in a John Wick sequel... you didn't know you were making.

Heh, that would actually be pretty sweet. Or have it hold off all the way until the end credits of the game, and as they play the scenes back, they flesh out the stick figures with the "final cut".

The best option would be to get someone like Mike Bithell to make some sort of strategy game around it. They should get on that right away, and pay me handsomely for inventing the idea. He did a wonderful job bringing character to expressionless blocks too.[small] (Sorry Keanu, couldn't resist indulging in a bit of friendly banter, still love ya really!)[/small]

And now that I've seen the John Wick game "John Wick Hex" gotta say I approve of its being a turn-based/iso-hex game instead of just another generic shooter. It gives players more freedom of movement and more ability to utilize set pieces and combat actions. This is the game that needs a "playback at normal speed" after every level.

I know there is a retro-80s inspired slasher side-scroller game that does this, "take your time to do the fight correctly, then we'll play it back to you at full speed so it looks really cool" out there. I can't remember the name though, Katana I think? You're a sword wielding hitman for some crime group, or something like that. It looked interesting.

Katana Zero. And yeah, it's a darn fun little game. Ends on a cliffhanger, so hopefully there's a sequel.

Not sure whether I should take your post as snark, considering that playback gimmick is exactly what John Wick Hex's main selling point is... o_O

It actually started as honest. I made that post a couple of days before I had ever even heard of JW Hex. Which is why the gameplay I suggested would have been more like Superhot than the hex-iso style that John Wick Hex has. I had heard someone was making a John Wick game, but guessing it would just be another crappy tie-in shooter I really wasn't paying any attention. It actually is awesome to see someone doing something different with it. Even if that "different" idea is apparently so obvious that even I had a similar idea.
