Ive played a lot of sandbox games like all the GTA series and Saints Row 1 & 2 and others.

But I noticed that there are no kids or teenagers in any of the the sandbox shooters.

Well except Fallout 3 but you cant kill or hut the kids. I wonder why, maybe because killing kids or hurting them is morbid.

So What is you opinion?

Games already get enough bad rep. Do you really want to give anti-games spokespeople more ammo by saying gamers become child murdering cannibals?

You answered your own question.

It's very politically incorrect; as such, not even Rockstar and Bethesda would touch it. Very bad politics, even if it's not actually bad business.

Actually in Saints Row 2 you can make your character look like they're 16.
More on topic: Well the last time I checked killing kids was socially unacceptable, and just shy of totally fucked up.

I think that's a good enough reason.

Because despite developers making "art", they still have their limits.

Honestly, I enjoy slaughtering insignificant NPCs in games, but if some of them were children I seriously would feel a lot less human. I guess us gamers still hold some human compassion even in our games.

Well why not, games have touched everything else why stop now
Games will never become 'art' or even be accepted until society learns we are not part time murderer-rapists.

Not even Postal 2 had kids. The reason for that is, its just fucked up man. I know people wanna murder kids for being douchebags these days, but in games? Fuck that. Or if you want you can get mods for Fallout 3 for that.

It just seems disgusting. Besides, would you really want to see that on every news channel for two weeks in a row?

I'm pretty sure killing civilians is socially unacceptable, in general.

Morality is a complex thing, but it can be broken up into two very broad categories, natural morality and learned morality. Learned morality involves complex things like respecting privacy (i.e not opening letters not addressed to you).

Natural morality is all about things that encoded in genes, things like protecting your offspring, its deeply ingrained. Causing harm to a child (harm as defined by the society, different societies view harm differently) is considered appalling in every human culture that has ever existed.

Okay you got me there. Let me clarify; Killing children is much, much, much more socially unacceptable.
Killing grown adults who are wasting away is one thing, but killing the future of the world is another.
