I never understood this about musicals. The song the guy your suppose to hate always has the most pleasing song to the ears. Really, what is the better song? The Circle of Life or Be Prepared? Under the Sea or Poor Unfortunate souls? All That Jazz or Cell Block Tango? Heavenly light or HELL FREAKING FIRE? Why is it that the villain when given the mic s/he always gets the best solo?

Because bad ass song = bad ass person, and villain = bad ass person. Therefore, bad ass song = villain.

Because they're making a point that, seductive though it seems, the path of evil will always end in sorrow, sadness and ruination... maybe. You've got to remember that every awesome villain song cadences with downfall.

All of these were named in The Nostalgia Critic's "Top 11 Best Villain Songs". No guesses as to where you got the idea from.

As for why, I can't say, really. Besides it being a matter of personal opinion (just like everything else in life), no one can really tell you definitively why the villain would always get the "better" song.

Thats easy, Villains gotta be bad ass, their music has to be bad ass, bad ass music is usually the best... just like Sephiroths Theme, One Winged Angel, one of my favorites.

Villain songs tend to be really over-the-top, dramatic, a lot of fun, and really amp up the intensity near the end. All of which make for a song that's a lot of fun. While the heroes may get a touching ballad (Can You Feel the Love Tonight), show-stopping ensemble number (Be Our Guest), or great inspiration tune (I Can Go the Distance), there's something about the raw power and sadistic glee that make villain songs so irresistible.

That was sung by Beethoven.

If you don't get it, he's the good guy. And yeah, he got the best songs.
Suck it, Mephistopheles.

So yeah, villain songs: not always the best.

Villains are awesome.

More eloquently: Villain songs can be overly dramatic, powerful, and just awesome, while if a hero were to sing a song like that, he'd come across as evil or egotistical. Villains can get away with both.

Also: Be Prepared may be the best song from any Disney movie ever.

It's ok, because I have friends on the other side.

Crashing through the roof.
In a one-horse open tree.
Through the hills we go.
Laughing all the Weeeeee!

Jingle bells.
Batman smells.
Robin laid an egg.
The Batmobile lost a wheel.
& the Joker got away.
