Not the case: In fallout 3, I wanted to strangle Princess in little lamplight... she's such a little *****. Also, I only felt bad about killing one person in Fallout 3, and that was Harold, the Mutant who was englufed by the tree, that just got to me for some reason.
Then don't kill childrenstevetastic said:ok here are several reasons
:most people really don't want to kill children
:the controversy would be huge
:it would probably be banned in several countries
:Killing children is just disgusting
Aww, I actually liked them, although that one ***** pissed me off, I simply called her bluff by saying that what's his name spends more time with whatsherface to try to progress the conversation farther and after that the game I assumed I did it to make the little girl cry and subtracted from my karma, which is total fucking bullshit.Gado911 said:No bunch of kids have ever deserved to be murederd more in a game than those brats that live in Little Lamplight in Fallout 3.
Odd, that gouls and robots are more likable than those snot nosed brats.Gerazzi said:Our views on this are uncanny.Bored Tomatoe said:Supposedly because it would be so "morally wrong" and the players would feel incredibly bad after doing so. I kinda felt bad after killing a Protectron, once.
Y'know, the one in the powdered wig?
Awww yea he was awesome, I usually enjoy blowing up robots in Fallout 3, but I just couldn't shoot that little bugger. Same with Harold, I let him live. But Little Lamplight....ooooo how did I want to exterminate that hellhole...Gerazzi said:Our views on this are uncanny.Bored Tomatoe said:Supposedly because it would be so "morally wrong" and the players would feel incredibly bad after doing so. I don't remember Oblivion having an AO rating. You can kill the adoring fan, over and over again..that little prick....Killing kids pushes the ESRB rating system into the AO range, also the games would become target by the media for being murder simulators even more.
I'm going to glare at you now,Remleiz said:Seriously, how come when any open[ish] world game or such like appears with annoying kids [im looking at you fable 2 and fallout 3] why cant you kill them?
im sure the developers dont want us to go out and kill kids in real life, but come on, it is make blieve after all, if we are allowed to blow some random persons head into a million bloody pieces, why cant we do it to kiddies too?
Ah but they're religious zealots, that's equivalent to being infected ferals anyway.Mornelithe said:Children of the Corn, man. Us adults have to protect ourselves!Amethyst Wind said:It'd be interesting to make a survival horror game with a Virus that only affects adults, so the survivors (i.e. you) would not only be constantly surrounded by feral mutated adults, but have perfectly normal kids mixed in with the crowd.
I think that'd be a great survival horror game as you would be so hesitant to actually fire on your aggressors for fear of hitting an innocent child that you'd be shitting yourself the entire game. In dark levels you wouldn't know whether those footsteps coming towards you would be infected or children, how in the hell would you find the total lack of compassion to fire indiscriminately? That's about the only way I'd find killing children acceptable, since the only true horror these days is when we are forced to go against our own morality.
Also, the taboo around killing children is because they are naturally weaker than adults, so it's a little unfair to make them the bad guys, even if they're somehow turned feral. While turned adults could be considered to be on equal ground to your character, that's never the case with children. Even the poster game for child cruelty, Bioshock, gave them a big burly protector and the option to save them rather than chop them up to get at their tasty bits.
