Why did they cancel Unforgotten realms?

I just re-found Unforgotten Realms and realized how much I loved that show. For those unfamiliar, Unforgotten realms was a cartoon that mocked D&D(and to a lesser extent WOW) and it was HILARIOUS. The episodes are still on the Escapist so GO WATCH THEM NOW! Anyway this show was really great and all of a sudden in 2009 it was canceled. It was mid-season and and with a unfitting summary it ended. On the creator's website it continued but to date there has only been 4 new episodes over 2 years. After re watching all the episodes I cannot conceive why they canceled this show and put up three new shows. One of which was literally just some random ladies(some of them strippers, not that it matters) playing D&D. Unforgotten Realms was witty and I'm pretty sure it wasn't unpopular so Escapist I DEMAND AN ANSWER!
P.S. If you're not Escapist but know why it was canceled, that's fine too.

One word: Money

Four words: The lack of money

That's the reason why since around 2009 so many shows have vanished (like A Midnight Quest (?), I Hit It With My Ax, Rebecca Mayes Muses). The Escapist doesn't have that much money to pay the contributors. Not much point in continuing this content if you don't get paid and you don't get that much fame for it. The reason Extra Credits stuck around for so long was because it didn't want pay upfront, until that huge debacle in the summer.

The long story short is just this:

The Escapist, in its funds-managing troubles, did not and/or could not pay Rob for his content, ergo he did not continue delivering said content and thus went to his own site to make use of said content.

It was something like this

UR: Give us money, please.
Escapist: NO!
UR: Alright then, I will fond my own website, with blackjack and hookers.

On second thought, forget the blackjack and the website!

OT and in general, there will be one of or all of three reasons for something like this:

1: Not enough money going to contributor
2: Not enough traffic being pulled by contributor
3: Contributor has done all that he/she wants to do with the specific content.

Seems like it was just #1 in this case.

The Escapist cancelled all of those shows due to a lack of viewers.

Unforgotten Realms was cancelled due to a long run with the Escapist and due to a very large and waning fan base and because Rob wasn't making enough money on it to continue it. Not to mention that the creator, Rob, pretty much acted like a jerk whenever criticism was brought his way. (I don't care what you're smoking, you do not drag a parody of Harry Potter out for 8 episodes.)

Rebbeca Mayes never really got going.

I hit it With My Axe was paid and wasn't dropped due to money problems, but once again, due to a lack of viewers. (And besides, it was in poor tastes anyways seeing as how they big hook was that all of them were porn stars and that horse gets beaten quite a bit before they even finish the Pilot.)

As for the Midnight Quest one, I'm sorry, but nothing like that has ever existed.

Keep in mind that this way before the Escapist's money problems became apparent and none of them cite money problems as they're reason for quitting.

Same reason every other show has been dropped: either the Escapist didn't have the money (A la Extra Creditz) or not enough people watched it. (actually back in the day the Escapist had 4 comic strips instead of 2 as well).

Rob Moran (creator of Urealms) claims he wasn't being paid for his episodes, so he left the escapist to work on his own site, and he hasn't had alot of time for uralms so he's just posted let's plays with Roamin (who the character in the show is named after)

This. It may....MAY....be true that he wasn't paid but, when he decided to do a show where, after a couple minutes, he shows us footage of him playing Counterstrike the rest of the episode, I dropped it.

URealms had a very successful first season on the site (2nd only to ZP wasn't it?) but then Rob decided to cut out his writing partner and go for it himself. Needless to say, comedy duos don't work when they go it alone and the 2nd season just didn't garner enough views to justify spending money (which when you're a gaming website is already a scarcity).

As for the other shows, it's usually much the same if you take a look at the back catalogue of videos. It's a tough world out there for content providers, very few people are able to take one consistent style and run with it for years.
