Griefers annoy other people to have fun, it's no surprise that everyone, probably including other, off-duty, griefers, hates them.
I really don't think it is. If he's immature enough to continue griefing after presumably being warned (I doubt it was just a punch with no warning), then he fully deserved what he got.oppp7 said:Really? And that's not worse than griefing?Chipperz said:I had that onceOne of my mates kept killing me in Halo 2's co-op, so I punched him in the face and still wont play games with him
If I could, I'd do it to EVERY PERSON that did it to me. I just can't afford the air fare![]()
That's dumb. Insults are more then just clusters of words. They can be personal attacks on someone, and aren't nice to have to endure if they keep up.Why do people think they can react with violence if they've been insulted? Even the worst insult in the world is just a group of words.
Well, that philosophy never made any sense to me. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but leaving the eye means only the griefers (in this case) can see. A leg for an eye is something I consider to actually be more appropriate for this situation. So they team killed you. Why would you try to react with anything other than team kill them (or join with them and try to take down all of the friendly NPCs)? An eye for an eye leaves the world blind, so I'm guessing a leg for an eye is much worse.
this. griefing is funny but hackers can go die in a fire IRL.Edzor said:I am an occasional griefer in almost all games i play, including MMOs', and i agree with all forms of griefing, EXCEPT hacking, that's just retarded...
Stopped taking you seriously right around here.oppp7 said:(Why so serious?)
...You're serious? You think my options are to either kill them, or join them?oppp7 said:Why do people think they can react with violence if they've been insulted? Everyone gets three warnings - anything after that is brought on themselves. And yes, punching someone who has been warned, after saying they won't do it again, three times, is better than griefing.oppp7 said:Really? And that's nopt worse than griefing?
Griefing is being a **** "for the lulz". Which is, well, a **** thing to do.
Lol, sorry, but I had to say.Mcface said:Stopped taking you seriously right around here.oppp7 said:(Why so serious?)
OK, in this situation, would you then think it was overkill if they hit you for being a dick?ntw3001 said:Well, the entire point of griefing is to make the game less fun for others. People hate them because they're making the game less fun for them. If people don't hate griefers, they're not griefing very well. If I stood in the path of a busy stranger, arms spread wide, and made sure he couldn't get past, it wouldn't matter that what he was doing wasn't important; he'd still be justified in getting angry. Even if I offered the cast-iron excuse 'It's okay, I'm only inconveniencing you because it's funny to me'.
See? I can understand that. People can get angry and flame back at the trolls/griefers. But I'm talking about the people who take it too far and let the griefer get under their skin so much they do extreme things, such as hitting them if they're nearby (as someone above said) or hacking their account to destroy it.ntw3001 said:Well, the entire point of griefing is to make the game less fun for others. That said, sometimes it's really no thing of importance to me. In TF2, people can grief and hack all they like on maps like Mario Kart as far as I'm concerned. Those games are supposed to be stupid, and I find it bizarre that people can get angry at anything that happens while playing them.
Also, there's no difference between trolling and griefing. Trolling's not hate-based. A troll, and a griefer, both seek gratification (hereafter referred to as 'lulz') from creating a negative experience for others. If a person's actually angry on the internet, they're not trolling.
There's a difference between the real world and the game worlds. If a random stranger did that in the real world then you should try to threaten them because the fact that they are doing it in real life means they have a general issue or reason for it. In video games it is done because it's easy and mostly harmless. In real life, if they did it then yes, try pushing them out of the way. If they pushed back call the police. But like I said, there's a big difference between video games and real human interaction.Chipperz said:OK, in this situation, would you then think it was overkill if they hit you for being a dick?ntw3001 said:Well, the entire point of griefing is to make the game less fun for others. More importantly, would you be more or less surprised if they hit you after you said you were doing it because it was funny to you?
