Why do we gamers torture ourselves?

I used a guide to find the location orbs in Prototype and missed one somehow. I spent hours looking for it before I simply gave up.

As NextGenWalkthroughs would put it, we gamers have simply tuned ourselves to constantly search for pieces of trash.

I completed every single one of the freeplay targets in The Saboteur(there's over 1000 of them).Luckily you can buy maps that show their locations otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered as it took me ages to do even with the maps

I don't know how people had the time to find all the feathers in AC2, no map, no radar, no chance for me.

Only if it gives a benefit. Such as the mentioned Golden Skulltulas (forgot what they did, though) and heart containers. Wind Waker was tough to find everything for.

They helped lift the curse of the family in kakariko village, who in return gave you shiny objects (bigger wallets and stuff like that I believe)
